Steve Smith Mic'd Up... Really Interesting Hearing Steve

A lot of truth said in jest.

So true. That video speaks volumes about not who those guys are as athletes, but as men. I'm sure it took a lot of strength for Smitty to console everyone like that, especially the guy who couldn't get him the ball and was most responsible for the loss.

Likewise, it took a lot of strength for Jake to apologize to Smith like that. He didn't make any excuses.

We talk a lot about how this organization is big on character, and that's never more apparent than in this video. These are guys I can stand behind, even when they're hanging their heads in shame after a humiliating loss. I'm not proud of the team's performance last Sunday, but I'm very proud of who they are as people and how they react to adversity.

Can you imagine if, instead of Steve out there, it was Ochocinco or T.O.?

Now I know why all those balls thrown right at smitty were intercepted.

Where's smitty's passion? Where's the fire?

We can't have somebody screwing around making our quarterback look bad. Jake has hall of fame talent and smitty's only holding him back. Bench him! Start Jarrett!

Haha this made me laugh. but seriously, last year when steve was out the first two games jake played a whole lot better because i think that he feels pressure that he HAS to throw to smith. thats just what i think though

I'm not going to name any names, but there was someone in the chatroom after Sunday's game saying we needed to trade Smith because he was constantly dropping balls and that we should get something out of him while we could.

Smitty is the man...

I posted a rumor about something I heard he'd said about Jake this week, but deleted it in fear of making things worse should any player read it...

As it turns out, it was likely said in jest, much in the way he said it to Jake's face, and that's a big relief to me...

We can still right the ship... All we need is for Jake to get his mojo back, and everyone to carry the attitude Smith has...

I believe in you, Panthers!

Also, lol at he and DeAngelo talking about "bombing" on each other so they could go inside to get away from what was happening...

Great post, I never would have looked for that clip. Hearing Smitty on the mic was great. I cant believe how he was not "focused". And like others have sad seeing that bomb to him intercepted was almost just as depressing on Sunday. When I saw Smitty running down the sideline I thought for sure that was going to be 7. That was the play that took the wind out of my sail.

On a side note I also watched the other video on the NFL site "WK 1 Playbook: Analyzing Delhomme" and watching that reminded me how bad the O-line and overall offense was at stopping the Eagle blitz. I mean the Eagles were on Jake a tone even before he finished dropping back. That doesnt excuse all the poor throws and bad decisions, etc but damn Jake had NO protection at all. The Panthers better get that fixed to even give Jake a chance, then Jake can help out by making better throws and decisions.

Loved the clip. Smitty is a performer...I don't know if these guys are mic'ed up every game, but I got the feeling he was cracking jokes maybe because of the mic. Just speculation, but he typically seems so intense, and at the game Sunday I could see his frustration on the field. But maybe the guys in his "circle", his teammates, see a different Smitty.

And with all the Jake flaming, I can't help but think that if there was no Jake here, that could be the beginning of the end of the Steve Smith era in Carolina. Don't want to think about that though.

Yea the end was kinda disheartening and made you look for brighter days at the same time especially when the score showed up

To Chaos, Steve was definitely upset when he walked to D.Will and D.Will reiterated and reversed Steve comment back onto him lol. He musta forgot about that comment and didn't think D.Will would say that lol

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
