So we're having an awesome big Super Bowl party at our house

aaaand I'm perusing the interwebz looking for decorations and such...i'm happily clicking here and there to and fro...when all of a sudden...eBay insults the fug out of me...I mean..wtf did I do to you, Ebay to give you the impression that I would even CONSIDER buying that piece of poo Seahawks table cloth

We're done...over...I can't even LOOK at you anymore

The algorithm looks at people who bought similar products, and at their buying history. Since most of the Seahawks bandwagoners are jumping ship to the Panthers, it is logical that the logarithm would tie the two together. Don't blame E-bay, blame the Seahawks for having fans that are so easily swayed.
