Cam texted Oher year ago "I need you here"

Just a tidbit from Cams press conference, says he texted Big Mike a year ago and said " I need you in Charlotte". He then followed up when asked about it "there is a difference between wanting and needing, I needed him here". The difference that guy has made has paid off in spades. Guess he was sick of getting killed with B.B defending his blind side, decided to take it into his own hands.

I love all the comments calling for the NFL to punish Cam for tampering. I have never seen so much salt in my life from 31 fanbases.

There is a fine line between salt and the cold icy fingers of reality creeping in that Cam is a fuggin beast that is about to rule this league with an iron fist.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

The day we signed Oher, there were cries of "worse than Bell".

Nobody says that these days.

I was saying that he HAD to be better than Bell.  But, it was not a ringing endorsement.  Boy was I wrong.

Also....give me back my T.  haha

Here's a quote and article:

Quote

Newton said today that he started work on Oher a year ago, before free agency officially started, urging him to consider signing with the Panthers. Newton said his pitch to Oher was the hardest he’s ever worked on trying to convince a player to sign with the Panthers.

“With the free agent pool, I’ve sent texts out before, called guys and said, ‘We’d love for you to be part of the team.’ But Mike was different,” Newton said. “I didn’t say, ‘I want you to be here.’ It was, ‘I need you.’ That’s different. Want and need are two different words, and that’s what I used in that text, along with other explicit words before the ‘need.’ And I think he got the feeling from that.”

Cam, spoke to his Brother Cecil, a former Baltimore Raven (where Oher played) as well.

Guys lobby with each other all the time... absolutely absurd. How many times do we hear "So-and-so was talking to so-and-so at the Pro Bowl about how they need to come to their team"?

    • My understanding is that Canales was asked about Tommy Tremble. Canales stated he had had back surgery, it was successful, and that they expected Tremble back for Training Camp. The Panthers PR person later clarified that Tremble will start TC on the PUP list. However, PUP during preseason isn't like PUP during the regular season where you definitely will miss time. Tremble can come off the PUP at any point, and to me Canales' statement made it seem like they were expecting him fully back near the start of TC. So, reading the team leaves, it seems like Tremble will be at TC but not practicing at least initially. Canales seemed to indicate he expected Tremble to be a part of TC, so that would indicate they anticipate him being activated around the start of TC. In terms of concern, who can honestly say? Its certainly not ideal that the surgery took place now. However, it does seems like this is an issue the team was fully aware of, and the plan was to rehab without surgery. The concern is obviously Tremble wasn't fully recovering without surgery, now the surgery will at least impact TC, and surgeries are never guaranteed. And back injuries linger and rarely completely resolve. Still, there are a whole gamut of procedures that constitutes back surgery, and while surgery is only "minor" when it's not your own, this doesn't seem to be a minor procedure. Tremble is in the building this week, so it's obvious hes not incapacitated or anything. Will just have to wait and monitor.  Im excited to see how JT Sanders and Mitchell Evans look in 2 TE sets since they fit more differentiated roles (Sanders is primarily a receiving threat, and Mitchell is more of a traditional TE). I hope Tremble is fully healthy for Week 1. This isn't the flashiest TE group in the league, but I think given the emergence of Sanders, as long as Tremble and Evans can be good role players we should be fine.
    • Meh camp is where Bryce looks the best. The answers will start to trickle in during the joint practices and that game but game 1 has been the real starting line for the reality of the season the last 2 years.
