SI Article About Broncos Pass Rush

The problem with everyone who tends to look at this match up have only focused on their defense vs our offense.  No one seems to be talking about their offense vs our defense.  I have been saying the last few days that if they want to win this game, their offense is going to have to beat our defense....that simple.  I do not care how good you think your defense is, the Carolina Panthers are going to score points on you.  Manning better play the best game of his career if they want to win, that is the bottom fuggin line.

Luckily for you guys, he has never performed well in the SB, even in the year his team carried him to a win.

Fun fact: Peyton has a pick 6 in each of his 3 SB appearances.

hahah Denver fans are using DVOA for their arguments. Just like another team we loathe

He next closest defense to Denver's on that list is Seattle's, and their DVOA Defensive efficiency W's HALF that of Denver's. The Broncos defense is significantly better than any other defense this season according to advanced and weighted defensive statistics. Historically it is rated just under the 2013 Seahawks in these measurements, which puts it in the top ten all time.

Look up 2015 DVOA rankings.

Ah, yes. I remember Seattle fans telling me they were going to beat NE last year based on DVOA rankings. Classic.

Where is our weak point right now? I'd say it's covering the long pass when Norman isn't the coverage guy. I don't think Manning is gonna put that much pressure on our patchwork secondary, and Luke has become a guy to avoid in the short passing game.

Denver did NOT lead the league in rushing D, Seattle did, and we beat them twice.

I think we match up with the Broncos very well. IMO a healthy Patriots team would have been a much tougher draw, but they limped into the playoffs.

He's already one of the best in the league. I'd say he needs very little work in that dept. You can bet the staff won't overlook it though.

I'm not sure we have faced a pass rush close to this all year. It could definitely cause some problems. The good thing is we can win multiple ways. if they do wreck havoc hopefully we can make some adjustments and win with our defense.

I think Cam got the Cardinals to jump twice. Hopefully it happens again in the Superbowl.

Comment I wrote on that article:

Quote

A few points on your X's & O's, Andy. And I'm only talking about the playoffs here, Seahawks & Cardinals. (1) Chipping is still legal, right? (2) A sweeping o-line takes away the gaps. (3) Your scheme on paper seems to have Cam standing still. Oh boy, is that ever wrong. (4) When they are sweeping, the Carolina o-line was able to get to the 2nd level with their blocking. (5) Sweeping right opens up the left of the field; sweeping left opens up the right. The hesitation of whoever remains on the weak side is all that Cam needs to (a) throw to Olsen or Stewart or Whitaker who just chipped or (b) hand off to Ginn or Brown coming from the strong side or (c) throw to the WR that just planted himself beyond the 1st down marker & in front of the safety or (d) throw to Ginn streaking down the seam past everyone or (e) run it himself, carrying a few defenders with him. (6) Carolina will at times only sweep a guard or only a tackle. Where does that leave your scheme? (7) If the remaining weak side defender commits instead of hesitating, there's a 50/50 chance he will stop Cam Newton. It depends on how he commits & what Cam's reaction is to that commitment.

And we won't even talk about the clean pocket Cam had most of both games, as illustrated in the picture you included. That's 4 on 4 because #84, Dickson, is just waiting for someone to come up so he can hit them. :)

I like how nobody mentions the utter poo that is the pats O line...and the fact they absolutely refuse to run the ball. Brady was putting up almost 50 throws a game down the stretch. The broncos are gonna get waxed worst than the cards. Calais Campbell is better than anyone on the Broncos D line imo
