Well if it becomes a game of field position you have to like the Broncos because our punter is hot garbage.

.................huh?

Anyway, back to real talk, it's surprising just how little is being said about the Panthers run game or about how the Denver offense matches up with the Carolina defense. All the articles I've seen have been Carolina O versus Denver D.

Kind of sounds like the whole discussion before the NFCC game....and we see how that worked out.

So maybe someone can take this a step forward because I'm at work and need to do something productive =)

So just looking at who Denver played this season, their 16 game rushing average, and how much they ran for against Denver was kind of interesting.

In my few minutes of checking things out, teams that tend to run the ball well, tended to run the ball well against Denver.  Not there were some exceptions to that of course.  But teams that commit to the run still tended to go over 100 yards on the ground against the Broncos.

We are the second rated rushing team in the NFL. That's going to be a bigger issue than Cam's arm I think considering their limitations offensively.  I think this could be an incredibly low scoring game if it's a run versus D kind of game.  Denver is an excellent defense, but thinking that it's some kind of crazy mismatch is completely incorrect.

I think that this is going to be a game decided by the team that runs best.  Also playing to the weaknesses of the other team is going to be even more crucial.  It won't be easy either way for anyone, and that's good.  Its the Super Bowl after all.

They faced two teams that were top 10 in rushing....and both averaged almost 150 yards against them.

They are not as good as their stats would make an uninformed person (like every analyst out there) think.

When our defense gives up points it's usually to big plays.  Manning can't throw past 20 yards so unless some amazing YAC happens we should be able to keep that contained for the most part.   I was worried about Remmers against Bennett in SEA and he did very well, so I was glad I was wrong.  I hope he does well this time as well but we would be wise to give help if needed and not just let him keep getting beat (if indeed that happens).

Manning's arm strength right now makes any passing play a lot like a red zone possession -- short field, compact coverages. I think this plays into our strengths right now as it will allow our safeties to be more immediately involved against routes, and, even more importantly, put Luke into his pick-off zone.

Unable to stretch the field, Manning can't make the most use of his wide receiver corps and explains the emergence of Owen Daniels. Our guys practice weekly against Greg Olsen -- do you think we can't cover Daniels?

And let's not even talk about the pass rush we can muster against the Broncos' O-line.

By the end of this, there should be a new Sheriff in town.

Oh, and that Broncos d-line? Lord, they are so not ready for what they are about to receive.

Stupid article. Wow, the Broncos got after an immobile Tom Brady and weakass NE Oline that got their line coach fired the next day.

I love being underdogs. Our OLINE is damn underrated. Oher should have been in the pro bowl. I'll take him over an old and injury proned Ware all day. Norwell will murder Jackson and Trai will eat up Wolfe. Only concern is Remmers against Miller. But, you really don't think Rivera got a plan? It's the damn Super Bowl.

Sadly, we're favored by most everyone though...kinda-underdogs?

Fans?  Or the team?  Fans, who cares, all fans for both teams are fundamentally full of crap.  Now if the team said that....Rivera will have a motivational gold mine!

You know how to beat a great pass rush? Run the ball. Anyone know who's the best run game in football, but also happens to be the highest scoring offense in the league? Anyone? Ok...we all know where I'm going with this.

The thing about this game is that we're so balanced. We can run, we can pass, we can defend. Denver most certainly can defend, but Denver MIGHT be able to run, they MIGHT be able to pass, but they way these teams matchup (strengths versus weakness), we are the better team top to bottom on both sides of the ball as a unit.
