Panthers Head Coach....Jeff Davidson??

At this point, I'd still say the head coach of the Panthers in 2010 is named John Fox.

If it isn't Fox though, I doubt it's Davidson. Nor do I believe it'll be a retread like Cowher or Gruden. They went that route once already and it was a disaster. Add in that the team wants to follow the "Steeler model" and the Steelers (when they change coaches every 15-20 years or so) never look for retreads.

If it isn't Fox, expect to see a guy like Ron Rivera, Rob Ryan, Russ Grimm or Leslie Frazier.

What?!

No!!

Davidson was the biggest problem sunday!!

The guy can't adapt to the defensive playcalling, can't make adjustments, had NO idea how to respond to the blitz.

Never once did he call any draws or screens or dump-passes.

he NEVER did ANYTHING to slow down the Philly blitz!

You wanna take the main problem from Sundays loss and PROMOTE him?! :dupe:

Fox's offense. If you need any more proof than the obvious see exhibit A: Dan Henning

that put it all in perspective for me.

Yeah, but aside from sneaking up on people with the wildcat, which Henning first ran at Carolina anyway, what has he done in Miami that's so great, and how do you even know how much freedom Henning has to call plays in Miami?

To me, the most important thing an OC can do, is to make in-game adjustments, and I haven't seen much of that from Davidson. You would think that if Fox was actually micro managing him, there would have been more running plays early in that Eagles game, since Fox is conservative and loves to run the ball above all else.

obviously this is going nowhere. the offense had success last year. hasn't this year. in the playoffs we ran down the field on the first drive, then after the cardinals adjusted on defense, we stopped running and started passing. like we did sunday. take it for what its worth.

No offense, but I don't see how that's a ringing endorsement for our offensive coordinator. That's the problem: you can't attribute all of our offense's success to Davidson and all its failings to Fox, and vice versa. We just don't know whose hands are where, offensively or defensively, and as such I think it's rash to say Davidson is head coach material.

This is exactly what I think about this topic.

Who knows what happens behind closed doors or what passes on the microphone between Davidson and Fox on game day.

But this has been discussed several times and Fox has been asked this question directly before. His response was that he has input into the gameplan because that is his job. But he hires coordinators to do the job and has to rely on them to do what they are hired to do. He reinterated that both Davidson and Meeks make the specific calls on game day.

Seems pretty clear to me that if our offense is faltering it is Davidson not Fox at fault. Still I don't think that Davidson is doing a bad job. His performance last year was one of the best if not the best offensive showing in our franchise history. 3rd in rushing, 10th overall.

This message board is full of hysterics.

I'd give the players a huge part of that for not executing what's called properly.
