Panthers Head Coach....Jeff Davidson??

How do you know for certain that Fox overrules Davidson?

Why would they even pay a guy to be an OC if that is the case?

because in the NFL the HEAD coach. overules all coaches on the field. its part of the job. which is why HEAD coaches can fire/hire coordinators. Just like Buffalo, Tampa, and Kansas City did this year.

I don't....I am saying if Davidson is running the offense....he has been medicore with play calling....so what makes people think he is an offensive guru with predictable calls and little evidence that opponents factor into gameplans.

and for those who think Fox calls the shots....there would be no evidence of what Davidson would do and is a wildcard.

you can say that about any coach in this league. there is no think. the head coach calls the shots. Davidson calls the plays. when the offense is moving, the actual plays that are called, post route, hb screen, etc... OC calls. Decisions, who to start, dress, go for it, Fox. if you dont know just ask instead of mocking someone. not trying to be rude, but come on.

I agree with CRA on this one. I'm still not sure that Davidson is even a great OC at this point. He sure hasn't impressed me with his in game adjustments so far. I mean, how can you keep calling 20yd out routes that take 5 seconds to develop when your QB is getting beaten half to death? And where is this screen game we were hearing so much about when he first came here?

I wasn't attempting to mock anyone. my bad if it come across that way.

Despite the use of capitalization for the word HEAD you didn't actually answer my question in a way that signifies reading comprehension. :P

I'll ask again with clarification so that other internet commandos don't try the same tactic to make themselves feel intelligent. (just razzing you no personal offense meant :D)

How do you know for certain that Fox overrules Davidson to an extent that it causes losses? How do you know that Davidson is not the one who can't pick a play that is going to stop a blitz if executed? How do you know that Davidson doesn't just want to play as conservative or near to exactly the same as Fox would?

if have actually re-thought my stance. i understand where everyone is coming from. in fact i plan to use my knowledge to one day get involved in the NFL, but anyway. i just think it would be a good move. we saw flashes of what he can do in the past. just my interpretation of what i have seen. Fox is very conservative when it comes to managing the game. i think davidson would open things up more.

Thanks for the response. That's kind of what I was thinking.

Maybe... I sure wish I could talk to Davidson myself.

I'm glad someone's still using logic on this board.

Either Davidson's made some serious offensive playcalling mistakes, or Fox is indeed controlling the offensive playcalling. In either case, you can't make the claim that Jeff Davidson is a great offensive mind.

Much of our success last year wasn't even due to the playcalling, but to natural talent. How many times did our running backs break tackles and find long runs when many other backs would have been able to?

I'll be honest, I'm not completely sold on Jeff Davidson as an offensive coordinator yet. We had a great offense last year, but I wonder just how much of that was play-call driven and how much was player driven. I'll not say he's a bad offensive coordinator for the same reason I won't say he'd make a good coach: none of us truly know how little or how much Fox is involved with the offense.

Who knows what happens behind closed doors or what passes on the microphone between Davidson and Fox on game day.

But this has been discussed several times and Fox has been asked this question directly before. His response was that he has input into the gameplan because that is his job. But he hires coordinators to do the job and has to rely on them to do what they are hired to do. He reinterated that both Davidson and Meeks make the specific calls on game day.

Seems pretty clear to me that if our offense is faltering it is Davidson not Fox at fault. Still I don't think that Davidson is doing a bad job. His performance last year was one of the best if not the best offensive showing in our franchise history. 3rd in rushing, 10th overall.

This message board is full of hysterics.

No to Davidson

He was the OC during the Cards game

He was the OC during the EAGLES Blitz fest:mad2:

I don't see it !!

If if it's B /C Fox is HC and he was just doing what FOX said

Then I really don't want him as HC

If he grew a set of balls and told Fox it was his Offense and let him run it ,, He would maybe peak my intrest

But a YES man as a head coach ??
