Panthers are 4-0 against top 5 defenses in the league.

Like mentioned earlier, they are not the #1 scoring defense. So, we could have an enormous amount of yards racked up against us yet have 2 or 3 turnovers and allow 6 points. lol! Scoring is what really matters. Not taking anything away, they will still be a tough defense.

I think it comes down to their pass rush and, even more so, Cam protecting the ball.

Panthers: 28

Broncos: 19

Denver's Defense is good but I think a lot of people are being prisoners of the moment because they just beat the Patriots. I don't agree with the assessment that this Denver's defense has been the best defense in the last decade or half-decade. The Seahawks Defense of 2013 rivaled the all-time greats. They allowed 14.4 points per game, 8th in sacks, and lead the league in turnovers by a wide margin. The Broncos might win this game, but as the OP indicates this will not be the first time that the Panthers offense has faced a top flight defense.

This game will come down to Denvers Oline versus Panthers Dline. If Denvers oline defends well I see it being a close game. If Panthers dline gets to manning it will be a blow out. Considering Peyton cant really air it out I see alot of short passes nothing beyond 20yd. We went up against the 2nd best offense and best passing attack and dismantled them. Secondary will be fine as long as the pressure is there. Offensively for the Panthers, no turnovers. If we establish the run its game over. Its so hard to stop the panthers. Almost impossible. With the read option and the way they fake the handoff it holds the LB or draws them to the line of scrimmage leaves open gaps for receivers to run there routes. It freezes the LB and if the secondary is looking at the QB they hesitate as well and by that time the receivers are already in full stride. Its absolutely remarkable how well this works. Its like playing a mental game to stop them. It leaves defenses so confused the past two weeks weve seen defenses about fight themselves.

Not saying the Panthers won't need to bring their A game to win this match up with the Broncos, but Carolina has faced several teams that have very stout defenses accompanied by much better offenses than Denver's.

Broncos w/their stellar defense still managed to lose 25 percent of their games this year against teams less capable than the Panthers.

The Panthers are the most complete team Denver will have faced all season.  Carolina is also peaking at the right time, each game more complete and dominant than the last.

Once the Broncos D has been on the field for an extended period of time because of their tepid offense, they will crumble and the contest will be over.

Ron won't be taking the foot off the accelerator pedal till the Panthers are hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

This game promises to be a blowout just like the last two playoff games and then some.

    • Man that was awful.  Completely killed my NBA fandom in a way that will never recover. I loved that Hornets team.  The Bobcats were the worst possible replacement.
    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
    • First off, he's not even eligible for a contract yet.  You have to play three years. And thank goodness! All we saw last year were glimpses.  Yes, those glimpses were enough that I think every fan wants to see him come back next year.  But bottom line is that so far, with only a couple games worth of exceptions, he hasn't yet shown that he's a FRANCHISE QB.  He hasn't shown the consistent ability to elevate the players around him. He could be the guy.  After week two of this year, just saying that much is a massive, massive positive swing.  But let's see him put it together for 17 games.  Let's see him make the people around him BETTER.  Then we can talk about extending him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that thus far in his career, in no season has BY exceeded the rookie stats of MAC JONES. We should  be excited for the possibility, but we certainly haven't seen yet what we need to see to declare we have our guy.
