Can you blame him for getting screwed out of being on the team once they started coming around?

I'm not gonna get into the "Steve Smith Vs. Dave Gettleman" argument again the day after the team's most dominating playoff victory sealed the deal to be in the Super Bowl.

We'll just agree to disagree and can have this discussion in June when we have nothing else to talk about.

In my humble opinion, right now is the worst possible time to be having this discussion again.

Keep Pounding, 89. Aside a small minority around here, you're still loved and welcomed by the Fans, and obviously Richardson, who has an opposing Player all up in HIS lockeroom after the Championship Game. If Smitty doesn't get a Ring, I won't piss and moan, but a public reconcile would be an excellent PR move.

His being let go is part of the "coming around".

Like it or not, his release was part of making the team what it is now.

What's hilarious is Deion called him out for that. Said something along the lines of "they had to get rid of you so it was all cam's lockerroom"

smitty smiled and said "yeah, pretty much, that's ok"

Smith wasn't giving it his all here.  You could tell there in the final season or even before that.   When he went to the Ravens, he turned it on, at least early on, so you could tell he needed some motivation.  I think he would still be here if he would have accepted the vet role and not demand passes thrown his way each play.   He had his chance to assimilate to the role we needed him to fill and he didn't want to.  Sometimes, you just have to move on, and it made Cam a better player when he took over the team.   I don't think Rivera and Gettleman will keep vets around unless they accept their role.  Look on our team right now.  Guys like Harper, Tillman, Allen, etc, they know what is up, they aren't demanding unjust playing time or whatnot.   They had a vision and that's how this team is built now, for better or worse.

Yeah, he sure wasn't giving it his all when he played through a leg injury in the Niners divisional round game and caught a TD.

Maybe on that play, but he wasn't the whole year, yet kept demanding the ball.  Compare his first season with the Ravens with his last with us.  He needed a jump start.

Spot on. I still dont blame Smitty for not accepting he is getting old and losing a step. He never backed down to anyone and played like an animal, why would you expect him to back down to life/aging?

People need to get off there high horse, these Steve smith "myths" are ridiculous, especially the "he wasn't giving it his all" excuse. Whether smith remained on the team or not doesn't matter because it was only inevitable that Cam would lead us to the Super Bowl, our Super Bowl run has more to do with our coaching staff and cam growing then us releasing any player and if you can't see that then you might want to

look a little harder. Proud of

smith for cheering on his teammates just like Hardy did earlier in the season.there's a reason these guys were pissed when they weren't able to come back, because they could see the direction the team was going and I don't blame them.

All in in all save the hate bs for after the super bowl I'm sure there will be plenty of offseason to do it

The man ripped Gettleman, said Rivera was a coward hiding in his office, said Cam was too dumb to succeed in the red zone (which is particular lol-worthy this season), took shots at Norman, said he would retire rather than play for us again, and his dumb cult members on the Huddle think he deserves a ring. Get the bleep out of here with that. He made his bed.and now he has to lie in it. If Gettleman hadn't cut him, this team wouldn't have made the playoffs much less Super Bowl this season.

This is borderline dumb, cutting one player propelled us to the super bowl huh? Not Rivera learning how to be a better coach along with the vast improvement in o line play, Norman putting it all together , Cam growing even further into a Elite qb, emergence of KK.....none of this was more important to our super bowl run then releasing smith?

we made the playoffs with smith in the team btw
