Let's assume the line plays well this week

I think that he needs to, because there's clearly a "book" on Delhomme right now and if the Panthers can't overcome it as a team then he's done. I've never been accused of being a Jake hater, but it's pretty obvious to me that he can't handle a ton of early pressure. We need to game plan for that or we'll be seeing it all season.

I just hope that if we do stop it and get him settled down and in the flow of the game, he becomes the same QB who played at a high level last year for us, rather than the one we've seen for the past two games.

Gameplanning can be pretty simple. Instead of running on first and second down for example and throwing on 3rd and long when every team brings the blitz, why not throw on first down. We already know that Abraham doesn't play every snap and rarely plays on first down. Seems a perfect time to be throwing.

If I can figure this stuff out, surely professionals who do this for a living should be able to do a much better job.

I agree 100%. The line didn't play well but neither did Ben Rotlesburgers' against the Titans. Quarterbacks have to be able to "see" the blitz before he happens and adjust accordingly. On some of those third downs he should of hit an underneath guy and punted, instead he held onto the ball or just threw under enormous pressure (the int that was going to DeWill on the screen).

I understand that he was under enourmous pressure but how many of the INT's were the result of that, really? I know for a fact that he wasn't really pressured all that much when he threw the first one, in fact, I think someone at the line of scrimmage altered the pass. I also know for a fact that the one downfield to smith that got picked he had no pressure at all on that one, it was just a poor throw.

The turnovers that the pressure did cause were the fumble TD that he should have just went down, protected the ball, and took the sack. The other INT that was caused by pressure was the one I talked about earlier and again he should have just taken the sack or thrown it away earlier.

If anyone saw something different please tell me but if Jake could have beat the blitzes with hot routes and quick passes, or even checking out of certain plays then the Eagles wouldn't have done it as much. The offensive line didn't play wel but that had nothing to do with Jakes' horrible decision making and bad throws.

Much of the problems could have been avoided with better planning and gameplanning which goes to the coaching as well. If you know your quarterback doesn't handle multiple blitzes on third down, you don't call a pass play which takes time to develop. Or you roll out the quarterback, use quick hitters or other ways to help Jake out. That is the reason Fox admitted that they were outcoached. Jake surely sucked but there are ways to minimize deficiencies on either side of the ball and Davidson didn't do that at all. For example, when we know they are going to blitz 5 or 6 guys, why do we open up in a three receiver set instead of 2 receivers and 2 backs to block?

Plenty of blame to go around.

I definitely agree with you and I feel that coaching was a big reason the oline didn't play as well. We know that the offensive line is talented but it seemed as if they just weren't prepared for the Eagles style of defense. The Eagles put a lot of guys in the box and confused the oline with the blocking assignments. It was a total meltdown for the coaching staff, I just wish they had figured it out after the fumble TD, that would have helped.

in that situation OP I think I stand a good chance..

The thing is that it is never like that for any team. The Offense is going to fail more often than not. When that happens you need ball carriers and a QB who knows how to limit the loss and live to fight. Not expand the losses and get knocked off the field.

That's what we did against Arizona in the playoffs, and look where that got us. And once we got down last Sunday, Philly started blitzing on first too.

This is simple, play max protect and give Jake time to find a receiver. Even if their coverage stops a deep ball, the outlet to a tight end or back should be there if the pocket starts breaking down. If Jake can't hit that, then he's through in the NFL. But it has to be there first.

I think Jake will be focused come Sunday and snap out of this funk he is in. I also fully expect to beat the Falcons and make all right in the universe.

If he doesn't, then I will just drink more heavily and throw things at the TV.....hope Dan does not mind me throwing things at his TV as I will be watching the game at Cheese Moz.

Hell Dan would probably throw the brick oven at the tv
