The rule is no different than a fumble (a backward pass is a fumble).  And the Panthers have gotten the ball after replay plenty of times when a player was whistled down yet it was ruled a fumble later.

I just said a backward pass IS A FUMBLE, moron. The difference in this case is the play was blown dead a long time ago, then the Patriots picked it up, which would be like a running back being in a pile, the ref blows the whistle before the ball falls out of the pile, then a defender jumps on it as everyone is walking back to their huddles and then a challenge flag is thrown out.

THE PLAY WAS BLOWN DEAD LONG BEFORE THE PATRIOTS PICKED IT UP!

That's different than the refs blowing the whistle too early while everyone is still fighting. Everyone had stopped playing, including the Patriots guy who lazily walked over and picked up the ball before jogging into the end zone.

How long does a play have to be over before it's actually over?

Priorities man damn. Thiis championship weekend.  IRS be damned

It was some random 1099 I got and I was concerned about how much it was going to impact my returns.  Needless to say, I spent hours looking over my business deductions......just lost track of time.  Sheit happens.  If it were the Panthers, no.....I am on the TV an hour before the game and do not move.

I'm the moron?  This has been the rule since 2006.  The play is not over when the whistle is blown.  Call me names all you want but the rule is the rule.
