Colin Cowherd: Cam Newton Has "All Time Talent"; Now A Fan; Makes Juicy Comparison

Just call it the snow, or Championship Weekend Edition on the Huddle today with all the various articles, links and videos posted here. LOL

This is actually an interesting one.

On a show with Steve Smith as a guest, Fox broadcaster Colin Cowherd may have made the most engaging comments and comparisons.

Yes, former "hater" (to some), Colin Cowherd has progressively became a Newton convert this season. And now it maybe a full blown Hard On, Man Crush by him?

Just goes to show, how one can differ about a player when they get to watch them more often, and/or that player starts winning.

Commenting on guest Drew Bledsoe's earlier appearance. Just listen to what Cowherd says when a caller compares the presumed budding Newton vs Wilson QB rivalry as the new Brady vs Manning:

Quote

As some one called earlier, and said Russell Wilson and Cam Newton will be the new Brady and Manning. Eh, eh; errh.

Russell Wilson has the chance to win a lot of Football games, and is going to be a very good Quarterback. But the leap from very good to all time; you're talking about the difference between Phil Simms and Dan Marino. You're talking about arm strength, size....Dan Marino's an all timer...  John Elway's all timer... Brett Farve's an all timer.

Phil Simm's a good Quarterback. Russell Wilson's a good Quarterback. Kenny Anderson; good Quarterback. Brian Sipe in Cleveland; good quarterback! Jay Cutler, Tony Romo; those are good Quarterbacks. I really like Tony Romo.

But, when you're talking all time talent at the Quarterback position. You're talking Joe Namath;Terry Bradshaw; Troy Aikmen. You know, there's a difference between a model and a supermodel. There a million models. Not too many supermodels.

Yes.Those were his exact comments verbatim.

Now some of us may disagree with a few of his "all time talent" examples, such as Troy Aikmen (who was very talented, but hated pressure IMO), and maybe even Terry Bradshaw, who played on a loaded-on both sides of the ball-Superbowl team in a run first era to some, being compared to the likes of Elway, Farve, and Marino... But hey, those guys (Aikmen and Bradshaw) got the multiple Superbowl rings-don't they, and they're memorable?... Nonetheless, you get his point, and what's he's saying.

Note: Cowherd, and Drew Bledsoes comments start at 1:21:29 on the audio.

For those that click the link, Steve Smith starts right after (1:23:37) Cowherd's comments on Newton.

Fug Cowturd and his band-wagoning ass.

NOW? He admits Cam is a good QB?

Too late... fug him.

Funny.

Both he and Bledsoe had almost exactly the same comments.

So it just goes to show you, people can not like someone for what they perceive (at least Bledsoe admitted it/his), and allow that to cloud their football judgement.

So maybe now that they got to both watch, they actually see how good he is?

Of course they may criticize again/after. But of course, they may be as much for publicity, as it is for Haterade.

That's the business their in now. And Newton's usually Boffo talk for for media always looking for the next "story" in our 24 hr news cycle. .

People hate on Bradshaw for having talent around him and being dumb...

He made all of the play calls....

ive actually loved cowherd for a very longtime and i like to listen to his rants

I've always felt that Cowherd just didn't really watch a whole lot of Cam like a lot of other analysts. He is a national guy and just focused on Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers and Ben. Now that Cam is up there he is paying more attention. He actually gave Cam props after the playoff loss against Seattle last year.

Never liked Cowherd whether he agreed with me or not. He's just another sports shock jock like Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith.

I didn't watch him when most Panther fans hated him, as he said those things about Newton (didn't care, or listened to his show, ESPN).

However, I've caught him on Fox Sports recently, for whatever reasons.

Yes, he's a self indulged, narcissistic blowhard, and part time Shock Jock.

However, I would say he's a bit more insightful and complex in thought than Stephen A., and Skip Bayless. Or at least he tries. LOL
