The Super Bowl and Mr. Richardson

We have all the motivation that we need.  Jerry Richardson.  On October 26, 1993 the NFL owners unanimously selected Carolina as the leagues 29th franchise.  The journey started on December 15, 1987 when Mr. Richardson took the first real step of his dream by officially announcing his bid for a NFL team.  We thank you Jerry Richardson for making this dream a reality for the entire Carolina's region.  We will always be thankful for your hard work and investment into this dream  This dream was Mr. Richardson's, but it was ours as well.  A dream of the entire Carolina's.  While Mr. Richardson is thankfully in good health currently, he has had significant health issues in the past.  He had a quadruple bypass surgery in 2002 and was blessed to receive a new heart in early 2009.  He is 79 years old. Just like all of us, he is not guaranteed tomorrow.   Lets not put off winning our first Lombardi trophy any longer.  Carolina this is your year!!!  It's time to reward Mr. Richardson for his dedication and love for the entire Carolina region and franchise.  We need our players to play the game of their lives for the next 2 games.  We are so very close.  You guys can do it.  We all believe in you.  Lets Keep Pounding all the way to the podium and then dab all over it!  Let us all enjoy the moment that Mr. Richardson finally holds that Lombardi trophy high over his head and the last part of his dream comes true.  Carolina Panthers Super Bowl 50 Champs!  Can't you guys and gals see it?  I know I can.  Lets win it for the Big Cat!

Let's win it for the fans that sat through the bullshit and cared about winning, even when JR did not. Let's not win it for businessmen who are here for money and business first but for the fans of the team, fans of success and fans of winning whom have stuck by the Panthers through thick and thin. The fans before 2016, before Cam, before 2003. Most importantly let's win it for the people, not one man, who really brought the Panthers here and created the demand to make it possible, the tax payers and people of Charlotte, to the PSL owners that are are hard working locals who paid money that meant more to them than a billionaire's to bring this city a team to cheer for.

If you could have written a story of a magical season of redemption for a fledgling young nfl football team there's no way you could have laid it out like it has for the Carolina Panthers.  Think back to all the playoff hopes dashed since the 2003 SB appearance and a common theme surfaces.   The teams that dealt the final blows to send the Panthers home have been laid out like domino's for the Panthers to knock over in succession on their way to the ultimate sweet revenge, the Lombardi Trophy.  Talk about the best sports story ever told!  There's no way this team is not going to give all they have to make it happen.

KEEP POUNDING!!!!

If you think that Mr. Richardson doesn't care about winning you are sorely mistaken.  There was a lot more to his decisions during the lockout period than any of us will ever be privileged to know.  I also know that Cam and the team loves Mr. Richardson.  You can see it in their comments when they talk about him.  Those in the organization that know the man have had nothing but positive things to say.  I am thankful that he is our owner.  However, if some of you want to be bitter towards him thats your right.  I choose to be thankful.  Keep pounding!

Edit:

I would also like to add that if he didn't care about winning do you think that he would have fired Mr. Hurney and his own sons?  Followed up by the hiring of Mr. Gettleman who has put the final touches on what is about to become a perennial contender.  Lastly  he has made Cam one of the highest paid players in the league.  These are not the actions of someone who does not care about winning and only wants to make $$$$.   Someone who doesn't care about winning doesn't fire his GM when the team that he constructed gets off to a bad start.  The man absolutely wants to win.

I can't connect the logic that you profit from selling a crappy product.

JR thought enough of the Carolina's to give them an NFL team of which he could make some coin while giving the community something to be proud of.  Win/win right?   So how does he profit if he doesn't try to build the best franchise in the NFL?   Logic would dictate more wins = more coin, right?

My view on this from a day 1 fan is that JR gave the Carolina's something more valuable than any amount of money he could get his greedy old paws on.  The greedy part is just a rumor by the way.

I'm just glad to see he may have finally found the right people to build that dynasty he wants.  Feels good don't it?

Agreed on all points.

RE: greedy rumor:

It sure is greedy when you dont hesitate to cut 110,000 dollars worth of checks to 10 families and a church after a horrific massacre. Dont you think?

Lol gimme a break...

I think if you believe games are fixed or tend to swing towards a team, this is our year. Im not saying the games are all fixed, but I do believe the NFL has the teams it wants to win the superbowl and can make calls to help that case. It is a business. JR was a big part the NFL up against the player union for rookie contracts. We all remember the pie chart speech. JR is all about the NFL. That is why we never have had our logo mid field. He believes no player nor team is bigger than the NFL. I think this year is ours, and the iffy calls go our way the next 2 games . Goodell has been planning this SB 50 to be huge since 2012. This is the one you want to win if you are an owner. It will be remembered.
