Parking

I parked in a lot last week ($40) and after they took my money they inform me alcohol and tailgating is not allowed.  I was like WTF?  It just so happened I had decided not to drink that day and wasn't tailgating either so I just went ahead and parked.  Normally I would have gotten my money back and made a U-turn right out of that lot.  I wonder how many people would pull into it if they had a sign at the entrance stating no alcohol or tailgating.

I work in South Charlotte, I was thinking about parking at the office and calling a cab or uber. Does anyone have experience with this? I got a "quote" on the uber website that said 6-8 dollars one way but I have no experience with them and the limitations on a Sunday night.

It will be cheap before the game especially if you head up there early enough..probably no more then what you said.

They will definitely raise their prices after the game because, well, they ain't dumb!  They inform you of how much they're jacking the price...It might range anywhere from 2 to 4 times what it normally costs.  Also, I'm pretty sure first timers can get a free ride or $20 off or something, but you might want to Google that.  Either way, even if it cost $30ish dollars, that's what you'll be paying parking.

Careful with Uber, as they reserve the right to jack up their rate during high traffic events, like this one. Pretty sure they have to disclose that to you on the app before you ride, though.

This^^^

Prob will be $10 range to get to downtown.  It will be 3X that to get out....if you can even find a driver for over an hour after the game.

Buddy of mine used them a couple of times.....he said the trip home was ridiculous and took forever walking around downtown waiting on an ubber driver to be available.

I did the light rail last week and it is PACKED after the game so prepare to wait or do like we did and jam on to it and piss people off.

It is always like that after a game.  But, still better than sitting in traffic trying to drive out after drinking all game.

If you're anywhere south of Uptown, you'd smart to park at one of the light rail stations and take the train to Stonewall. It's $4 round trip. I don't live in Charlotte and this is what I always do, and it sure beats paying $40 to park and fighting traffic on the way out. Just plan to go to bars or do something after the game so the light rail crowd dies down.

I would plan on going downtown early and on the light rail.  Parking is free and the train is about 2 bucks a ride for those that actually pay to ride... (Its the honor system still)

I would NOT suggest riding without paying for the ticket.  They check on the inbound trains A LOT on gamedays.  A fine for not buying a ticket is about $50......just pay the $3-4 roundtrip and enjoy the day.

This is a good idea. Keep in mind they'll only take you so far into the stadium area so they don't get stuck in the traffic and can't make other pickups. Honestly, if you're not intending to pay to park in the stadium area, park along South Blvd at the light rail stops and ride it in. Much easier to get in and much easier to get out. Obviously, you have to plan accordingly for the ride (not sure exactly how long), but here is a link to the schedule page for the Light Rail.

Best of luck everyone.

Uber is free for your first ride (I think that's true even if surge pricing is in effect.) Also, last week if you used the promo code keeppounding you got $10 off your Uber ride to the stadium, I assume they'll do something this time.

If you don't want to go the light rail route, I also recommend parking in one of the lots near TWC Arena. It will up your walk time to 20+ minutes or you can park there and Uber to the stadium.
