When and Why to make Noise

So...are you planning on handing this out to the masses, because the Huddle might be the last place that this advice would do any good.

Also, I slightly disagree with waiting until the offense gets to the line. Loud noise in the huddle can be very disruptive, especially when the sideline is radioing plays to the QB's helmet.

At first I almost went with the huddle but they are grouped together to block out the noise and are in tight together. Now after they break the huddle or from the no huddle offense get loud. Crowd noise will affect a QBs ability to change the play from the line more than anything else.

I will not be handing this out because I will not be at the game, I live a few hours away. This does sound like a job for the Roaring Riot or someone who knows someone that can slip this into the programs. Although this site does get a lot of traffic so you never really know if it will help and there has been some discussion which is cool.

Yes, this.

Please don't just "start making noise when the offense comes to the line".  Noise during the radio transmission of the play call and during the huddle can cause the coordinator and QB to have to have to repeat the play call multiple times, leaving far less time at the line to read the defense and/or audible the play.  Most of the actual scheme and protection changes at the line are going to be done with hand signals regardless when playing on the road.

You have to be loud when they huddle up. It takes just 1 WR or tackle to hear the play or snap count even slightly wrong to make a big difference. It doesn't take much to screw it up. QB's work to get their diction right but you never know. So, be as loud as you can from the huddle through to the snap. Then you can rest until the next huddle.

If everyone does their part, it should be so loud that only the players next to the QB can be 100% certain of what they heard no matter where they stand. Sowing any little doubt is always good.
