Damn, this movie has already made over $133+ million... on a $50 million budget... and that's just domestic revenue and Sunday showings haven't even started yet.

Lol Fox.  You're raking in the profits right now but it's gotta be hella bittersweet.  Put this thing on ice for years and years until that test footage got leaked a few years back, then felt obligated to finally greenlight the movie due to enormous demand from the internet - on a very limited budget - and completely ruined the character the first go around in the Wolverine movie... so much so that you had to completely destroy that entire timeline because you fuged poo up so bad.

Ryan Reynolds, the writers and director have to be laughing their asses off right about now.  Reynolds especially.  Dude has been begging for them to let this movie happen for like 10 years now.

Yep.

Highest grossing opening weekend Fox film ever, surpassing Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Great news for us fans.

Front to back, great flick... Loved all the references & jokes, the Ryan Reynolds sexiest amn alive issue of People magazine in Deadpool's bag, calling his blind & elderly roommate "Mrs.Magoo", top-shelf, all the way around....

Solid origin story, and well done tying it in to the Marvel universe. Just dont know that we'll see this character in Phase 3 with Avengers, Guardians, etc......

Go spend your money, disappointment is not something you get from this movie....

It wasn't made by Marvel Studios so it's not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe... he won't be in the Avengers, etc.

It's part of Fox Studios' X-Men universe.  Now that it was a smash hit you can probably look forward to seeing him in some of the X-Men movies down the line... and hopefully he pops up in the new Wolverine movie that's coming out in a couple of years.  We need to see Deadpool and Wolverine go at it before Hugh Jackman hangs up the claws.

Right I think we'll get X-Force, and that could be awesome.

James Gunn(director of guardians of the galaxy) had a pretty good rant on why a lot of hollywood execs get it wrong about films like these.

Quote

So, over the next few months, if you pay attention to the trades, you’ll see Hollywood misunderstanding the lesson they should be learning with Deadpool. They’ll be green lighting films “like Deadpool” – but, by that, they won’t mean “good and original” but “a raunchy superhero film” or “it breaks the fourth wall.” They’ll treat you like you’re stupid, which is the one thing Deadpool didn’t do.

The only drawback to this movie is this: now they have to keep it up. Easy character to do that with, but when you come out swinging like that, you can't afford to have a sequel that doesn't match it. If the sequel is at least on par, Deadpool may be the reason marvel and fox throw their differences aside and share their rights. Because after Deadpool had such success, you can bet Marvel and the fans want to see Deadpool and Thor, of Iron Man, and especially spider-man share scenes. Hell, even just a quick cameo poking fun at the character rights issue like Deadpool did in his own movie would be amazing.

I think Deadpool is easier than most.  Just keep him being crazy.   If they do Cable right it could be great.   I see future X-Force stuff as well.

The only drawback I could see is if they lose the balance between comedy and story...

This film didnt have much of a in depth story and thats okay becasue people didnt really need it but the next film or eventually I think people will want more so having a good balance and never becoming too jokey will be something to watch for even though its dealpools thing comics are a different medium than a nearly two hour film.

Loved most of the movie. Only wish there were more of Deadpool actually being Deadpool in costume.

The best parts of the film to me happened when "Francis" was handcuffed to the bridge and Deadpool was bickering with Colossus and the kid. I about lost it when DP kept breaking his bones on Colossus.  Utterly hilarious stuff.

Looking forward to seeing it again.

    • I know every jersey thread goes in this direction, but I feel the need to say it.  The Chinese knockoffs are not your friend. Not only does the money not go to the panthers, but you don't control where it does go. The athletic did an excellent podcast on the business of counterfeit shirts not too long ago. I could care less about the legality of it, but the morality of it is no bueno. Now I need to wash off the "defends billionaire class" off myself, but like don't give your money to those people. If you can't afford a jersey, just go to ebay, or a thrift store, or wear a t shirt.
    • A friend of mine, Chip, was taking an exam in a business course that he had failed twice before.  He would have to drop out of his major if he failed it for a third time--he claimed the professor, Dr. Brown, despised him, and several others who had Dr. Brown's class with Chip confirmed that Dr. Brown's hatred for Chip was obvious.  Before the exam, Chip was up all night cramming, confiding to his roommate Jeff how nervous he was.  Jeff was understanding and listened carefully.  During the exam (an evening course) Jeff was at work delivering flowers for a local florist.  As Chip describes it, a woman (another student who worked with Jeff) entered the classroom with flowers and a card with the words "Dr. Brown" written on the card.  The professor immediately sent the girl out; Jeff was watching from the hallway.  She left the flowers on his desk and scampered out.  Chip laughed because he thought the professor, a man he hated, was being pranked.  A few minutes later, the professor opened the envelope, and read the card.  Chip was still laughing.  He walked toward the students, still taking a timed test, and stopped at Chip's desk, staring at him.  Chip stopped laughing.  He dropped the card on Chip's desk while snarling at him silently.  Chip read the card, "Dr. Brown.  I can't tell you how much I have grown under the three semesters of your tutelage and guidance.  You are my role model.  I will miss you." --Chip Fxxxxx.  Chip made a C.
