Dear Mrs. Walton,

Have you ever read the insightful quote from Marcus Aurelius that “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth”? It’s fitting really…

I’m assuming you are not familiar with the quote, considering the way you threw the word “classless” around in your recent Facebook post in regards to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. It’s the uneducated and irrational posts like yours on social media, that leads to a perspective that Cam Newton is a “classless” human being; yet there is no validity to this claim. Now I’m not faulting you for your lack of knowledge regarding the Panthers quarterback, as I imagine the lack of positive publicity, however it’s time these “trending” posts and letters to the editor come to an end.

While your beloved Seattle Seahawks were going through pregame warm-ups at Bank of America Stadium Sunday afternoon, Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers were receiving their last bit of coaching from Coach Braylon Beam. Braylon, as you may be aware, is a six year-old battling pediatric brain cancer. What started off as a Make-A-Wish story in August, Coach Beam has quickly become the inspiration for the Panthers organization and fanbase. So much of an inspiration in fact, that the Carolina Panthers fanbase known as the “Roaring Riot” raised over $4,100 for the Beam family and presented Braylon with an all-expenses paid trip to Jacksonville to see his favorite team and quarterback open the season against the Jaguars. But it doesn’t stop there.

This past September, the “classless” Cam Newton learned of a special Halloween party for Elijah Aschbrenner, a 10-year-old boy who had fought so bravely after being diagnosed with Epitheliod Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. When Newton learned of the party, he surprised Elijah, along with the countless friends and family members who attended the block party, by showing up and bringing along an ice cream truck to help celebrate. Weeks later, Elijah lost his battle to the horrible disease. Yet, to this day, Cam Newton still wears the bracelet he received at the party that reads ”Pray of Elijah” and “Never Give Up.”

Last past weekend, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reported that last month, the “classless” Cam Newton surprised special needs children with desserts, middle-schoolers with a shopping spree, and a local high school football team with $7,500 for a new weight room. In November, as “classless” as he is, Newton fed 900 children at his Thanksgiving Jam; an annual dinner put on by the Cam Newton Foundation. In December, he hosted his “Christmas with Cam” event at the Panthers vs. Falcons game for children from the Levine Children’s Hospital. After the game, “Mr. Classless Cam Newton” spent time with the children and their families on the field.

Could Cam Newton have done without the post-game antics that the “12th Man” feels disrespected by? Sure. But is it any more disrespectful and classless than your own “12th Man”, those you call family, throwing popcorn as an injured player is being carted off the field or your own Richard Sherman taunting fans as they leave in the recent “Sound FX” currently playing on NFL.com and the Seahawks website?

Sure, Cam Newton, at times, may have a little too much playing the game he loves. Smiling, dabbing, and dancing aside, Cam Newton is far from classless. Despite preparing for the NFC Championship game on Sunday, just know our quarterback will be getting his last bit of advice from Coach Braylon Beam and will still find the time to help those in the Charlotte community. I think we can agree that there is much more to life than football, and Cam Newton does his best to enlighten those lives as much as he can.

As for you Mrs. Walton, PantherNation extends their thoughts and prayers to you and your family, especially little Ellie. Remember to always, Keep Pounding!

It's been picked up by a Seattle TV station, so apparently it's legit.

But yeah, I do think someone might wanna advise this lady of stories like Braylon Beam and such so she gets an idea just how completely off base she is on this.

(assuming she actually cares whether her facts are valid or not)

She doesn't give a poo, her team lost and she'll believe what she wants. Apparently the Seahawks are the only team that does charity. That smug poo pisses me off so much.

I wish that I could give you more than one slice of pie.  Very well said.  The only thing that is classless is the undeserving hate of our quarterback who is a good human being.  By the way, where can I read what she said about Cam?
