No one got upset when Billy 'white shoes' Johnson did his dance or Ickey Woods did the Ickey Shuffle. Heck they made a commercial with him doing the Ickey Shuffle.

I mean I literally watched the Giants defense do "Ballin'" from Jim Jones for half a fuging season about a decade ago. These guys were doing it after like batted passes or sacks, and Cam can't even do a motion after he gets a first down without everybody losing their poo. What Cam does is unique to him but like you said, a lot of players have their own unique idiosyncrasies. Rodgers does his WWF championship belt thing, Gronk spikes the ball, Brady yells at referees, Peyton Manning rips his chinstraps off as dramatically as possible, etc.

To be fair, didn't the first down thing start with Muhsin Mohammed?
