I feel like we just lost. Coaching a major concern going forward.

This is about as cheap a piece of throwing-under-the-bus I've ever seen.

Is Rivera admitting he has NO control over his coordinators?  Isn't that in the job description of "head coach"?

Well it was apparent Cam and Luke were disgusted with being shut down from making the calls on the field and running the original game plan.

Not sure how involved Rivera is with his coordinators on game day.

I am glad we won, but this continues to support my view of the coaches are the liability on this team and need to stay out of the way of the players. Every time I have seen the coaches micro manage the players during the game we have seen teams come back after being dominated, and the most apparent limitations placed on Cam and Luke controlling the game on the field was the Atlanta loss.

Let Cam be Cam and allow Luke to play chess with the QB. I have always been of the opinion that every 7 points a team is up you can run 3 minutes off the clock and be safe without any turnovers. Just my approach to killing the clock. That would mean the Panthers would need to be up by 70 points to start running the clock with offense and defense at half time. Up 31 points would mean the Panthers must keep attacking until 12 minutes remain in the game.

Hey Panthers won. So who am I to say what the coaching staff should have done.

I'm happy with the win as well.

Nonetheless, you would just hope that the Panthers would have scored once, twice, or maybe even a FG in the 2nd half just to keep things honest.

There's playing smart. Then there's playing too cautious.

I guess the two sometimes are hard to combine, particularly with big leads.

Agreed.

I look at it this way:

Option 1. Attack 3rd quarter. Run clock 4th quarter. Panthers put up at least 6 points in 3rd quarter. Panthers D shuts out Seahawks at best (+6 Panthers) or gives up 3 scores at worst (+15 Seahawks).

Option 2. Run clock with offense and defense starting 3rd quarter. Panthers score 0 points against a good defense. Panthers D plays bend but don't break allowing Seahawks 3 FG attempts at best (+6 Seahawks w/ assumed missed FG) or score 3 TDs (+21 Seahawks) at worst. Panthers actually gave up 14 points with this coaching decision.

So, the Panthers would have been wise to attack as the probability of a beneficial outcome is greater than running the clock in the 3rd quarter. Coaches need to be prepared for these situations or employ someone to monitor the reward/risk with their decisions during the game. They get paid too much to not be prepared for these game situations. Gut decisions will usually be the worst decisions.

This time of year, the only thing that matters is the W.  Nothing else.  We won, and that is the end of the discussion.

Btw, that coaching staff you guys are criticizing has this team in the best position in its history and has the best record in the NFC in a long while.

Best since the 85 Bears...
