Former Panther QB Steve Beuerlein Tells Truth About Cam and Wilson

Former Panther QB (and current CBS guy) Steve Beuerlein tells the truth about Cam and Wilson, when assessing both QB's, regarding their upcoming playoff match up.

He gives a relaxed, but honest, insightful portrayal of both QB's and teams that you normally don't associate with "national media'. He pulls no punches, I must say.

Note: I was almost afraid to even post this, as not to jinx either Newton or the Panther for their game tomorrow (I even thought about posting it after a Panther win only). LOL. Nonetheless, I know some of you are chomping at the bit till Sun for anything Panther related. So here goes (no jinx)!!!!:

At the start start: Talks about meeting Cam at Camp in 2011; including how impressed he was; how much he liked him, and how nicely Cam treated his kids, and his subsequent, continued growth since then

1:50: Cam's maturity, including public speaking/presser's with the media (very balanced). During this segment: Beuerlein mentions "Panthers Are Very Lucky That They Have This Guy As A Bell Cow", summarizing how Cam's improved incrementally each year to what he is now.

2:50: He mentions, though Wilson's improved in some areas (to Mac's question pertaining to Wilson's Pocket Prowess during his recent TD Hot Streak). He doesn't feel he'll ever be the pocket QB Newton is, will be.

4:10: He says, "still don't see Wilson as a pocket guy going through his progressions the way Cam does".

4:25: Mentions, in the playoff's where defenses are stronger. Wilson hasn't shown him he's a pocket passer, such as his 4 INT performance/win against GB last year, and his mediocre performance against Minnesota last week. He thinks there maybe a correlation (despite the weather last week in Minny).

6:00: Mentions Panthers are at home on grass, and Seahawks are not the same team on the road and on grass. Mentions bye should help as well.

8:00: Thinks Lynch will helps Seahawks, cause of the attention he requires. Feels gives Wilson more play action, bootlegs, and moving pocket, which he feels he likes to do/does so well with. Feels if Lynch doesn't play, Seahawks offense may be mediocre as in Minnesota.

10:00 (ends 11:09): Regarding people who value experience so much when assessing Sunday's match up: Feels Cam has won on every level. And he's in the position to win this game as well....Beuerlen feels, the moment's not too big for Cam, and relishes the big moment. He added/feels,  Cam's attitude rubs off on teammates as well (with some funny slights to a few other Champion college QB's). In other words: It may be Panthers time?

I found Beuerlein relaxed, honest, and refreshing. He speaks as a QB, discussing QB's. So because of this, he doesn't gloss over certain things, just cause of a players "stats" or wins. This is why he speaks about Wilson so honestly (but respectfully) compared to most in the non QB, honesty media IMO.

For the big time Wilson, NC State supporters here (you know you're here; lol)!? He didn't say anything particularly negative. He did praise Wilson and give him credit for what he does well. And he knows both Wilson and the Seahawks are dangerous. Sure are. However, he didn't give Wilson undue credit, praise or a pass for the things he doesn't do so great (as seemingly so many in the national media do), or needs to work on-such as from the pocket and going through his reads and progressions-in his opinion.

He gives his viewpoint (no jinx). So take it for what it's worth.

I thought he was outstanding!

OK. It was posted yesterday. However, not much was written about, or the two QB angle. So there ya go (found it after I posted).

Glad you reposted it with such a good summary.  I was listening to this yesterday while baking, so didn't have time to take notes.

Nice job.  This was a really good audio and deserves more listens.

Thanks

Yeah, I thought he gave excellent insights, with out being to analytical or Inside Baseball.

With his personal interactions with Cam, along with his experience as a QB in accessing both QB's (along with a CBS guy accessing both teams). You can tell his perspective was so different than your average run in the mill broadcaster or media type. But did it sounding relaxed and approachable.

I thought is was an excellent listen indeed. And figured it could get lost, considering how early he must have been on the Mac Attack yesterday (judging by the initial post yesterday, and it's few responses or pies).

Thanks again.
