No need copying the rest. You did an excellent job of revisionist history and here you repeat it. Thank you again for proving my point.

You obviously don't know what revisionistic history means so here is the definition.  It is presenting scholarly or historical information which contains factual information in order to present a situation in a more or less favorable light.  Rather than presenting an unbiased review of the facts and let the reader decide what they believe, the author uses those facts that support their opinion and presents them as the only opinion and ignores or minimizes any information to the contrary.

So lets not waste more space redacting the same information. Again, you did an excellent job of presenting a very controversial and highly debated subject and presented your edition of the history as the factual and only credible version. Revisionistic history at its best.

I say we call a truce, and you quit while your woefully behind.

You obviously have no clue how the REAL NFL DRAFT PROCESS AND SCOUTING WORKS (including background checks and interviews), irrespective of the media, TV types and The Huddle (Oh My) you seem to quote so much.  That's been proven eye rubbing-ly clear here. And I'm fine with that.

Doesn't matter if you supported bringing Newton here. Plenty people here who support Newton are ignorant of various facts, so you wouldn't be the first or the last.  What I'm talking about is irrespective of that. So check the emotion and repetitive Self-aggrandizing micro perspective (respectfully of course). Remember, there's a game today.

That's where our real peace, energy, and/or focus should be.

Maybe we'll pick up on this later sometime, if/when applicable?

Nonetheless, enjoy the game. I hope we all do for that matter.

Go Panthers!

Maybe FM could provide links to scouting reports he is talking about sometime that could show what he is talking about. That would be interesting.

as for myself, a fan of the game and watching the greats like Montana, young, rice ect. In person with my dad in the Bay Area and watching cam's college games I wanted him. I thought if we traded down, in that case I wanted locker (tenn ruined that dude, that org is a dumpster fire).

cam looked like a grown man playing against toddlers at auburn You could see NFL throws, his athleticism was something I hadn't ever seen. always thought that this guy, who was a better athlete than everyone he's ever played against went to the NFL could physically play with the best of the best. The pocket stuff was raw, but not so raw that scared me, at best I knew he could win games for us on athleticism alone. And after 2010 we were desperately searching for that hope.

I'm a huge Steve young fan. Met him and Eric Davis when i was a kid. They were playing a fundraiser basketball game against cops (my father was a police officer at the time) and Steve young was a freak of nature. Doing reverse dunks and all kinds of crazy poo (dude could have been an nba player).  Cam reminded me of young, but cam was on another level athletically, even though young was a beast and at the time was playing the qb position unlike anybody I had seen at the time.

This was probably why I wasn't afraid of taking cam. After reports came out after we drafted him about the time he put in, his pouting at press conferences after losing, his charity and affection for kids. I knew we had someone special. You find someone who has that talent who absolutely loathes losing, who visits kids with cancer unreported to the media and you have a recipe for success. Absolutely thrilled for Cam, this franchise and fanbase. We got a great one.

And I didn't even include the poster that REALLY fascinated me as a young teen because it isn't forum-appropriate... lol.

I must take a break......no more blood in brain.

That's a lot, and some reasonably old stuff to find, conjure up (especially now/this morning). LOL

This is why I said, 'maybe we should table this for another time (though this subject always comes up, due to heated debate on the Huddle)?

As I told Tiger,. The Miami Herald used to have an excellent series on the 2011 draft. Don't even know if they still do it.

In it, they used investigative reporters; NFL Scouting Pool Reports, and their own interviewer and researchers (or somehow cribbed off NFL ones). It reflected everything I had read, and heard from the NFL ones and the Panthers.

I'm not sure if this is still available on line, or what the series was even called. But it was excellent and thorough. Maybe when I have the time I'll try to find.

Nonetheless, when you see the lengths of research they and the NFL utilized, compared to what was being reported in the media it was laughable, and a stark contrast.

They not only interviewed Cam's teammates in Junior College and Auburn. They not only interviewed his coaches. They interviewed their wives and kids (with lengthy quotes about how much their kids loved "Uncle Cam", etc..). That was so touching BTW.

In Auburn, they even interviewed the lady who ran a center where Cam used to speak to young boys. They wanted to know if there was ever a time Cam didn't show up on time, etc. These folks left no stone unturned I tell you.

In Juco and Auburn, they spoke to cheerleaders, classmates, as well as teammates (who all called Cam a great leader back then), along with the aforementioned teaches, coaches wives and their kids, etc.. No one had anything bad to say as crazy as it sounded. And this was reported then, in start contrast to what media was saying (such as Nolan N, and Mike Mayock), and the alleged cloud that followed Newton that year.

That was that character stuff. During interviews with Auburn coaches. The Panthers found out that Auburn's offense wasn't as simple as many believed. Interviews also indicated, most of Newton's runs were called runs and not scrambles. Chizik and crew mentioned, Cam always stood in the pocket. Film breakdown further showed, Cam made some great NFL throws. So you get the picture. So no he didn't play in an NFL Proset offense perse. I get that. But his size, skills, NFL arm, leadership, coach ability and work ethic were obviously transferable.

A lot of these facts, or bits and pieces have been reported in articles since then. So some people maybe familiar with them (such as the recent ESPN piece mentioning as hard as they tried, investigators could only find maybe Newton riding a scooter with out helmet at Auburn-Lol). But I assure you, all this was found by investigators and scouting folks found back in 2011, and it was published.

This is why as the Draft drew near, Cam became the presumptive consensus #1 pick. Cause everyone knew the team with the #1 pick was going to draft him. Because the deeper the Panthers, NFL scouting pools, and investigative services dug; the more they liked about Newton (as Panther fans have discovered themselves the past 5 years).

It was like an alternate universe. But then again, TV does certain things for ratings that are not relevant facts. So there ya go. LOL
