Guys like Nolan Nawrocki and others were running a smear campaign against Cam.

I'm glad the Panthers didn't listen to the media.

Good for them, they were reading the NFL scouting services interviews, background checks, as well as breaking down their own film and talking to his coaches at Auburn.

That is something those clowns on TV, and the internet don't do.

Fantastic article. I particularly liked the bit about Warren Moon not having a pro day and the part about Cam getting dressed up for his "interview". Really great read on Cam and everyone should read it.

As for the Bradford contract and the JaMarcus Russell debacle...sure Bradford was the last one before the they changed the rookie wage scale but that doesn't mean he was the only driving force. I think the Russell bit...paying that guy so much and getting so little...was also a huge factor. Paying a rookie like Bradford $50 Million and knowing that you might get a JaMarcus Russell made the change inevitable.

Great article though.

It was Bradford's play that got them removed.

If it was only about Jamarcus Russell, then they just wouldn't draft any more black QB's high...Simple!?

In the article, Sam Bradford was never mentioned whatsover (regarding changing Rookie Contracts). So the author, was clearly trying to hang all that on Russell, or went the hyperbole route.

And that's just not true.

True. All I'm saying is that they both played into it. Not defending the author there just saying that Bradford wasn't the reason either. Actually, I think it was coming regardless. Teams were becoming worried about affording high draft picks which would defeat the purpose of rewarding bad teams with high draft picks. It was inevitable regardless.

Actually it was Russell that made the rookie wage scale thing come about. It didn't happen till after Bradford because they had to wait for the CBA to expire so they could renegotiate how all that worked. Nothing involving money for all clubs ever changes in the NFL unless it gets collectively bargained.

I'm glad DA kept it 100 and spoke the truth about that Tennessee mom. Some people tried to defend her actions.

"The lady writing the deal about his dancing?" Anderson says, shaking his head. "To me, that was racist. That was flat-out racist, the most close-minded thing you could say."

That's my backup QB! Preach on DA!

I hear ya.

Russell may have inspired it at the time.

However, by the time the CBA expired, it was all on Sam Bradford. Cause he was the one media were citing  when they were criticizing the Rookie Wage Scale.

He did it all on his own by then.

Yeah. I noticed it right away.

It was a decent article (I Know we usually expect hit jobs when Cam's involved).

I've read better. Though I felt the author presented some good facts and conversations. He also tried to play up the "black QB" angle a bit. So he took some liberties-such as this- (IMO) in order to be "edgy", and play up the controversial angle with Cam.

So why make Jamarcus the scapegoat for Rookie Contracts (as a Black QB), instead of Sam Bradford who was the last straw. Obviously, if Jamarcus Russell was the guy, they would have changed the structure after him.

Now, saying Jamarcus may have made some NFL teams more leery regarding drafting black QB's high or #1 may have had more merit. But his statement about the Rookie contracts was just a flat out lie.

So you actually ending doing black QB's more of a disservice with that type of statement, instead of helping the( an an article like this may pretend to shed light on a situation).

You also have to remember that they could not change anything until the current agreement expired. Which happened after Bradford. There would be no way that the Players Union would agree to that type of change without negotiations. So while Russell may have actually been a huge part of the reason for the change, nothing could be done at that time, as the contract was not up for renegotiation. And Bradford's contract and play was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak.
