Panthers Defense vs Seahawks Offense - Gifs From 1st Game Included

This is what you’ll see often. This one what Seattle and Wilson run. 1 read and the ball is out in 2-3 secs. Mostly on slants and curls. Bene did a good job reading it and breaking it up

vdCDCc1.gif

Good tight defense by Harper here. Disrupt the pass and good job Coleman coming over quick to help knock it out

UTOiyHC.gif

But best believe if the Panthers sit in a soft zone this D will get torn up. 3rd and long we seen teams too many times convert here. Wilson dropped the ball over the linebackers where the safeties are. Wilson attacked our safeties in the playoffs last year and numerous times went at Harper & Coleman this game. I’m expecting the same

JplXaQ1.gif

How the DB’s should play the Seahawks. Once again 1 read, ball out in 3 secs. Good job KK getting his hands up

dcDYjxD.gif

Speaking of KK, we need pressure through the middle. If DE’s can play contain on the outside with pressure up the middle we can surround Wilson

2urhb7p.gif

Amazing job by Harper here not over pursuing. You can’t get aggressive with Wilson, he’s too shifty and will make you miss. Force him to the sideline to throw it away. He’s going to run right anyway. He rollout to his right so left DE’s and anybody else on that side need to be disciplined to stay down and be patient

6luN3WH.gif

One thing I’ve noticed is when the Seahawks get down, they get real aggressive. Defense needs to be aware of the deep ball and they do it when you least expect it like on 1st and 10. Once again another rollout to his right

IJ1on2D.gif

Defense wins championships and it starts with them being aggressive. Wilson has no problem dink and dunking down the field. I understand Cam might be the MVP, but if we want to win this game and not be 1 and done, we have to dominate defensively

I am so sick of hearing this team of destiny crap.

They are a lucky team that got beat on the field of play. The Vikings handed them a win.

This is how you disrespect a dominant 15-1 team.

Ignore their undefeated record at home.

Ignore how good their defense is at home.

Ignore how many points the Panthers put up in home games while ignoring the fact they are the highest scoring offense in the NFL.

Ignore the fact their opponent just got physically whooped in brutal conditions and now they have to fly cross country and have their bodies swell up while dealing with the time difference/jet lag.

Act as if their opponent will be just as good on the road as they are at home without their home crowd.

Now for some facts:

The Panthers are insanely dominant at home. Average score of 33-9. The Panthers by far have the largest point differential at home than any other team in the NFL. The Seahawks are good at #9 when they are at home with a 54 point differential. The Panthers point differential at home is 128. Their offense is #1 at home and their defense is #4 at home.

The Seahawks on the road average 26-16.

The Panthers have scored 27 points in 13 of 16 games. The lowest scoring home game was 24 points. The Seahawks only managed 23 points on the Panthers D in Seattle. I was going to say Panthers 34 - Seahawks 13 in Charlotte, but now I want to see the Panthers bury this team of destiny so I am going with Panthers 44 - Seahawks 9 in Charlotte with Cam Newton having another 5 TD performance (3 passing/2 rushing). Why are so called 'experts' claiming the Panthers will score less than 20 points in their house? Have they demonstrated that at all this season? No.

My concern is what happens if we get a lead in the first half that is pretty comfortable and try to do damage control in the second half?

I can see us getting up 17+ points on them, then sitting back in zone in the 2nd half and not attacking as much offensively and trying to control clock. If that happens, this will be a game that we don't need to be in. We have to be smart and stay aggressive until the clock is at 0:00 in the 4th.

I think we can beat them handily as long as we don't beat ourselves. I'm oddly confident in Finnegan and McClain and I'm not sure why. I feel like they're hungry and wanting to get after it and show that they can be contributors to this defense.

I agree. I think everyone should worry about us sitting on leads

I.E what Munnerlyn did against them on Sunday which allowed Wilson to make that freakish play

This is the playoffs, there's no such thing as damage control. You do whatever you have to do to increase your lead. You might run the ball a little more, but I think having Stew back and fresh allows for that.

A point many aren't talking about it that this is a one-and-done scenario. All season long we've been discussing if Cam's getting too many carries, taking too many hits, etc, but in a playoff scenario such as this I believe we'll some some new wrinkles along with completely taking the reigns off of the playbook. If It's 2nd and 4 and the best play is a QB draw. You better believe that's what Shula will l dial up with a lot less hesitation than he might have in week 12 trying to get through the season without putting Cam in a position to take unnecessary hits. I don't believe Cam will try to do more, don't take what I'm saying that way, what I'm saying is that Shula's play calling will be even more dynamic because you aren't saving players or plays for the next week.

Bene isn't here anymore and we have two guys that did not face Seattle. McClain and Finnegan. Not diminishing their talent but bene has been and was in this system a lot longer.

Both teams are different on each side of the ball this time around. Graham isn't there anymore. I am not sure if that will benefit them or us.

Pretty much they're gonna unleash Cam in any way possible. Goal line dives, qb runs, everything. It's all or nothing (even though Cam has played that way late in the season, the play calling will reflect that).

i honestly think we come out a bit sluggish on O. Defense will have to step up in the first few series before the O warms back up after the bye week.

I would like to come out and run the ball. Just grind on them. A lot has been made of Michael Bennett and his ability to just play what he sees and how much free styling the Seattle defensive staff gives him. I hope our offensive staff has really dissected what he does when he sees certain things, show it to him and then hit him with a pulling Trai Turner. He's the one. Frustrate him and I think you see the rest of their defense really have a tough time making up for his overplay and we're a team that can make them pay. You saw Minnesota finally take advantage of him playing upfield so much and run right behind him.

This is what a Seahawks fan-poster, Robert Loeder said on Cat Scratch Reader. It was an excellent post (and of course, deals with some of the stuff Beaston does) in an Open thread there.

Quote

All our games have been smash-mouth and close ones. My biggest hopes are that we can slow down Olson and keep a lid on top of Ginn. We have been a much better D since we ended the Cary Williams experiment at CB, which Cam took full advantage of in the 4th quarter comeback. But we remain vulnerable to TE seam routes. On the other side, I expect that we will go back to our spread offense, which is new since the last time we played. Probably for weather reasons, we went away from that vs the Vikings. And the Rams stuffed it because they can blow up the middle of our Oline instantly on nearly every play. The new offense surprisingly features Russ as a pocket passer who gets rid of the ball quickly to targets running quick developing routes over the short and inter-mediate middle. That’s a scary proposition with your LBs! Another thing they liked to do was split or group 4WR or 3WR, 1TE very wide. This forces most Ds to play small and with only 6 in the box, assuming a single high Safety. This causes most defenses fits because in addition to quick hitters, they can run or read/option effectively with only 6 defenders in the box. This new offense is a big departure in fundamental philosophy from our run first, play action pass, deep shots and Russ creating out of broken plays approach. It produced a historic run of offensive and QB production over the 2nd half of the season. But most of that was vs lesser teams except for the Vikings and Cardinals wins. Coach may decide to play conservative vs your D. But if you see Russ trying to be a pocket passer and get rid of the ball quickly and you see us spreading out the formation to force 6 man boxes, it means the game plan is to go for it despite the risks. That’s what I’m hoping for: Forget molasses in January; play your best ball and make ’em stop you. GREAT matchup!

That's what he said.

Based off what I've seen of the Seahawks, he wrote this in great detail and honesty.

Wherever Bennett goes, he leaves behind a weak spot. Neutralize him and attack the space he left.

I'm feeling a big game by the Panthers as well (Knock On Wood/No Jinx)!!??
