An amazing artist. I was 16 when Ziggy Stardust came out and, although I never saw him live, I always found his music and his caricature fascinating. One of those artists you don't truly appreciate until later in life. The guy did it all- music, stage, big screen. 

Interesting side note: listen to a few tunes from the "Let's Dance" album and you'll hear a younger Stevie Ray Vaughn on the title track as well as the China Girl track.

Considering most of his commercial and influential successes came long before most hipsters were even born, I'm sure it's a combination of creepy and comical to read hipster eulogies.
