Why Not Matt Moore

Comparing Chris Weinke to Matt Moore does not help our argument at all, actually adds more ammo to the opposing side since Weinke did nothing when he left. Better example is Deshaun Foster starting for an entire season in 2007 over Deangelo Williams under the Fox regime.

See, I think he did show something. He played pretty well a couple of years ago when he started. More TDs that INT's, decent passer ratings and he didn't lose any fumbles, even when he was sacked 5 times by Dallas. Thats more important to me than his preseason play. He doesn't have good numbers coming out in relief, but given that the situation is usually bad when a QB comes in for relief, thats understandable.

IMO, he has a strong arm and a quick release. And he is far and away more mobile than Jake. The only question is his decision making, and we haven't seen enough of him to judge that imo.

nice post..we need to give moore a chance to see what hes got..

That's fine. I think he has a quick release as well, which I believe is his strong point. I believe he's fine as a backup and if Delhomme continues playing horribly, I wouldn't have a problem with them eventually going to Moore. But I don't think any quarterback on our roster is capable of leading this team past this year. I think it's a stable full of backups, which unfortunately is what we have to work with this season.

I didn't realize basing my personal opinion on observations was considered acting like a snob. If I would have come in here and said, "jake suckz!!! moore 2 start!!!" you wouldn't have said anything. Quit getting so petty about somebody having a different opinion than you.

I'm not. I said Moore should start and Jake sucks. What I didn't say was, "all you Jake supporters don't know poo. I saw Moore play and I know for sure he's the next Tom Brady. We're superbowl bound with him and all you that think otherwise need to get a clue. I saw the same film, yet I know I know more than all of you."

I never claimed you said that. It's a mentality that has taken over this forum. It's pretty obvious reading the threads in here since Sunday that people want desperately to believe we have a hidden gem somewhere that can turn the season around. I simply don't think Moore is that gem. I choose to believe that, based on what I've seen, all the QBs are mediocre at best. The offensive line will dictate the direction of this season.

You may be right, but imo any Quarterback is a crapshoot unless we are willing to pay a fortune for an established star. Moore has just as much a chance of being a successful NFL Quarterback as anyone we might draft out of college. For every Matt Ryan, there seem to be 2 or 3 Heath Shulers. And off season signings are risky as well. Look at the two biggest from last year, Cassel and Cutler. Cassell didn't play, and Cutler sucked.

I agree that if we give Moore a shot this year and he doesn't work out, we should take a chance on a draft or a free agent next year. But until then, might be time to see what the kid can do. He might surprise us.

I think we're all Jake supporters when he's in the game. Or Moore supporters when he comes in. Or Feeley supporters if, God forbid, he comes in. I would hope fans wouldn't actively be cheering for our QB to fail, whoever is in the game. I do hope Jake turns it around because I believe when he's at his best, he gives us the best chance to win. On the opposite side, when he's at his worst, he gives us our best chance to lose. I'll be watching and cheering on whoever is in the game though whether it's Jake, Feeley, Moore, Joey Harrington, Tarvaris Jackson, or Jarrett when they convert him to QB because he can't do anything else.

It's not about reputation as much as it is about your experience in discussing matters. Whether or not you notice it, you learn what to say and what not to say when posting in order to keep a discussion civil and productive.

So, in regards to post count, it's about experience, not reputation.

OK let me get this straight, to keep the conversion "civil" people come on and personally insult others for having a different opinion then themselves, based on post count? And they are not personally insulting anyone else on the board.

Guess I have always heard it backwards, when somebody doesn't have anything intelligent to say they make personal insults.

Must be right out the DNC play book. Learn something new everyday....:D
