Raw and unfiltered: a book about history and the 2015 season

Dear everyone,

The last couple of weeks have been absolutely exhausting. I've spent every night since Christmas up until 5am alternately writing, editing, and painting in order to provide you all with the highest-quality product we can muster. It's been incredibly tough but also deeply rewarding. Of course, we've had a lot of help along the way from incredible and generous friends, without whom this project never would've gotten off the ground. Thank you, guys and girls.

And without further ado, we present Fifteen and 1: An Unofficial and Unfiltered History of Professional Football in Carolina.

Here are a few things you should note.

1) Fifteen and 1 is published through Amazon's platform, but you do NOT need a Kindle to read it. Any device - computer, tablet, phone - will do. Downloading it on any of those devices will simply prompt you to download the free Kindle Reader app, which takes like two seconds. In a pinch you can always download it here.

2) The book is composed of nearly 60,000 words. This is the length of a novel. That means you're about to read more about the Panthers than you've ever read in your life, all in one place for the first time. Before now there was no comprehensive guide to the Carolina Panthers; that changes today.

3) Due to licensing laws we were limited in how we could present this thing, both on the cover and in content. This means our cover doesn't use the franchise's name, nor explicitly represents a trademarked logo, copyrighted name, or otherwise licensed object or person (in case you were wondering why it doesn't say Panthers.)

4) If you enjoy the book, please leave it a five-star rating AND write a review (AFTER you've read the entire thing.) THIS IS IMPORTANT! A review doesn't have to be long, but written reviews (even if they're a sentence, or a line) do worlds of good for new authors. And remember criticism isn't a bad thing as long as it's not slanderous. Basically treat it like you would any book.

5) Feel free to discuss the book here in any fashion, be it positive or negative. However, please refrain from posting giant chunks of content here, since we're trying to incentivize people to download it. Also please refrain from being common asshats if the thought had crossed your mind.

Lastly, purchasing the book through the following link will let the Huddle benefit from your download, at no cost to you, and help keep this place running.

Happy reading!

also, if you enjoy the book, please share on social media and gift it to your friends! get this thing spread across the new fan base and educate them so we don't have to deal with completely knowledgeless clowns invading this board with new flatbrims come february

please also note there are still minor updates taking place related to formatting; if you don't see the new cover right away, give it a few minutes and it'll show up. the table of contents may be glitching too, but it doesn't affect content.

seriously, thanks everyone!

Philly I have to say I'm very impressed so far.  I'm only on chapter 8 but I have no doubt I'll be done with this book in a day or two.  I'm an avid reader and can be pretty unforgiving when it comes to what I invest my time reading.

To all huddlers you should buy this even if you aren't a big reader.  I know a lot about the Panthers and have been a die hard since day one but I'm learning things I never knew in every chapter.

This has been a fantastic read so far.  I've got to make the uptown lemonade.  Riot did a fabulous forward.  I had forgotten a lot of the early years such as Reich and the mascots shaking the goal posts.  You also brought back some painful memories of the bad years.  I'll probably finish this tonight.  Great job.

    • I mean it's not even like this was his worst game of the season... I'm not done with him by any means but this feels more the norm for him than the exception:/
    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
