Block in the back

I am saying Jason Baker out kicked the coverage but there was a DEFENDER with a PERFECT ANGLE on Desean and if he wouldn't have made the tackle he would have AT LEAST forced him back to the middle of the field where other DEFENDERS WERE but he was ILLEGALLY BLOCKED IN THE BACK so Desean was allowed to run down the sideline where there were NO DEFENDERS except Jason Baker and we all know how that will end up.

Hate to break it to you but there was plenty of room for Jackson to work due to the rest of our coverage being totally blocked off. Brown was basically in the same position as our first guy down the field who completely whiffed and didn't slow Jackson down at all. If you think you can make a hypothetical assumption that the play would have been stopped 100% if not for an illegal block then I don't know what to tell you.

It's not like the Panther players were standing around with their hands in their pockets.

Might as well have been. Sure there was a bad call, but the coverage was extremely poor regardless.

I saw it, biotched about it and the Eagles fans around me said they didn't see anything (go figure). My seat was directly behind the Jackson run (upper bowl) but, the Panthers' STer that got blocked in the back was containing the running lane Jackson was going for. We can't say for sure he would have made the tackle, BUT once blocked from behind, the crease was there for the taking.

Agreed on the fact that the team's will was bending, but that play essentially broke the will. I'm not saying the Panthers' gave up, but the aggressiveness and assertiveness took a back seat.

It is not like am saying this was a block in the back that happened on the other side of the field, it happened right in front of the return man I don't care if everyone else was sitting around with a thumb up their ass it affected the outcome of the play and it wasn't call by the officials.

So he was almost 20 yards from the returner when he was blocked in the back??? Did he fall down as a result of this block?

yeah he was about 15 yards and had the angle and the sideline to force DJ back to the middle of the field. And yes he did fall.

I have it on tape and reviewed it a few times, here's what I got out of it.

First guy down was Munnerlyn who didn't even make a strong enough play to slow up Jackson or make him sidestep at all, forget about actually making a tackle. As soon as Jackson caught the ball he was able to run straight downfield because Captain missed him so badly. Brown, the one who was illegally blocked, took a poor angle himself and Jackson had not gone toward the sideline at that point and still had plenty of room to work. The coverage on the outside had overrun the play and all Jackson had to do was angle toward the sideline to avoid them. 85 yards untouched.

I don't think anyone is questioning that it was a bad no-call but it's pretty obvious the rest of the coverage was poor and that there's plenty of room for improvement there.

My whole point was that you can't expect the refs to be perfect every game and you shouldn't be giving up 85 yards TDs whenever you have a single illegal-block/hold/ect that goes uncalled.

I know it is a small pic but if you look at it Brown had a good angle to cut off the sideline and force DJ back to the middle where there was help. I am not saying everybody was where they should be, I said earlier JB out kicked the coverage. I am just saying it was a huge call the officials blew and being a Panther fan I see it all too often and it almost always is not in our favor.
