15: the untold and unofficial story of the carolina panthers

Fiz and I wrote a book about the Panthers and you get to read it Sunday!

That's right, this coming Sunday there is no Panthers game. We got a first-round bye and we won't have anything to do but sit around hucking Bojangles and watching Russell Wilson's unused dick freeze and fall off down his pant leg in the -10 degree winter horror that will be the Vikings game. Except for reading the book PhillyB and Fiz wrote!

Here's what's up:

  • This damn thing is huge. It's over 200 pages, and at close to 60,000 words it's well within the defined range of a novel. And it's told in very easily digested and entertaining narrative form, so in many ways it will read like fiction. But it's not fiction. It's real, including all that stuff about John Fox calling everyone pussies on his first day in the locker room and the stuff about Chip Kelly and The Golden Calf of Bristol.
  • It's organized into two parts: a detailed history of the Panthers from their founding to the 2014 season, and then a game-by-game breakdown of the 2015 season.
  • Since NFL merchandizing licenses are more than a million dollars to acquire, we couldn't display any NFL or team imagery, so this thing is illustrated entirely through organic means. Between artwork contributions from the huddle to play diagrams used to teach and break down play calls and schemes to funny-ass classical art pieces inserted at dramatic moments, this thing is gonna be the best thing you've never read.
  • SCP has graciously written the book's epilogue and it's the single greatest thing i have ever laid eyes on.

It'll be available at 12:01am Sunday for purchase through Amazon. It's in e-book format, but you can read it on any tablet, laptop, desktop, hell even your phone. We haven't narrowed down the exact price, but it'll be under $3. That's a damn bargain. You can't buy a cheeto-stained copy of Moby Dick at Ed McKay's for three bucks. We'll post the link using the portal that allows the Huddle to profit from it (comes out of Amazon's pocket, not yours) and you'll be helping to keep this place chugging along as we move into the playoffs.

Here's a sneak preview of what you'll be looking at:

None of it's edited or formatted worth a damn yet, but you get the idea.

edit: and the text won't look that obnoxious. it's just a stock previewer program.

This thing's gonna win a Pulitzer.

You need someone to edit your sentence structure and grammar and more works needs to be done on research......the bomb to Moose was not only the longest play of the game but the longest in SB history up to that time.

Other than that it looks like a decent read
