Lovie Smith... OUT?!?!

Well to be honest with the talent they have on that roster defensively, toss in a 4000 yard passer, a RB that came a hair short of the rushing title, a 1200 yard WR, and only pull 6 wins with it is a bit disastrous.  I'm certain the expectation was to finish ahead of New Orleans at minimum.  There's really no excuse to be last in the division with that roster and production.

You got legitimate sources telling you it won't happen if MCD is gone?

Just saying it "could". Never say never

Rivera's first choice for DC was actually Steve Wilks. If McDermott leaves, he's next man up.

Plus given their history, it'd be kind of awkward.

Voth compared the idea of reuniting Love and Rivera to a reunion of Steve Smith and Dave Gettleman.

That should tell you all you need to know.

Yeah, it's common knowledge that they don't exchange Christmas cards. Zero chance Rivera brings him in

the Glazers seem to have a habit of firing highly respected coaches (Tony Dungy) prematurely to get their hands on someone who hasn't even made up their mind yet (Bill Parcells)

if there's any justice, Koetter will tell these assholes to shove it and leave

To be fair, it worked out just fine for the Bucs last time seeing as how the won a Super Bowl.

    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
    • First off, he's not even eligible for a contract yet.  You have to play three years. And thank goodness! All we saw last year were glimpses.  Yes, those glimpses were enough that I think every fan wants to see him come back next year.  But bottom line is that so far, with only a couple games worth of exceptions, he hasn't yet shown that he's a FRANCHISE QB.  He hasn't shown the consistent ability to elevate the players around him. He could be the guy.  After week two of this year, just saying that much is a massive, massive positive swing.  But let's see him put it together for 17 games.  Let's see him make the people around him BETTER.  Then we can talk about extending him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that thus far in his career, in no season has BY exceeded the rookie stats of MAC JONES. We should  be excited for the possibility, but we certainly haven't seen yet what we need to see to declare we have our guy.
    • People cared as it was happening, but after a year or two, most people had moved on. There was no public outcry to bring the NBA back to Charlotte, it just happened.
