Padded Practice

Rivera said yesterday they were going to put the pads on this week. My guess is it will be Friday. I am sort of surprised they have any left. The CBA only allows 7 per season.

Having 2 weeks off with no contact, is more likely to lead to injuries in the game.  I'm sure he was saving one of these practices on the back burner, just for this occasion.

Im not sure where you got that number from but it isn't correct.

Even if we hit the limit for full pads practices in the regular season, there are probably extras allowed for the postseason.

Per the CBA.....

During the regular season, there can be just 14 padded practices for the entirety of the season, 11 of those sessions must be held in the first 11 weeks, and teams can hold no more than two padded practices per week. One padded practice per week is allowed during the playoffs, and all padded practices are limited to three hours max. Also, a bye week must include at least four consecutive days off, including Saturday

Glad to hear this.  Most of the Panthers major injuries this year have been ACL tears, which are non-contact are were going to occur regardless of contact via pads or not.

I wonder how that bye week schedule differs for the playoffs. Since they have practice Friday that would mean they would be off until next Wednesday, but I find it hard to believe that Ron would choose to go with that schedule if that was the case.

Thanks for the correction. I must have heard 11 and remembered 7.

It's still not very many for an entire season.

They will be back at work Monday per Rivera so it must be regular season byes only. Ron is trying to keep the same schedule as every week minus the Game on Sunday

Maybe if Monday is only film review, etc. it doesn't count against the 4 days off?  Monday certainly wont be practice,
