Start Funchess over Philly?

I think both Funchess and Philly should get touches early in the game.  Whoever is more effective against their secondary should get increased touches as the game goes on.  You have to base your decision against how they are doing in their current matchups in this game, not how they did in the past against different opponents who you are not playing currently.

Sorry, just don't see Philly as a possession type receiver...

He might not need to be.

When Benji comes back we know it'll be 13,17,19.

You've got your 2 long tall physical guys, one a little more finesse and handsy but two towers outside.

that leaves only one roll left and Ginn fills it when he takes the top off.  He gets tired.  Who you gonna put in? Cotchery? 3 possession receivers? How about Brown?  That looks like a better fit to me.

the above was how our offense was supposed to look, I believe that's how it will look next year.

We can always draft a speedy receiver

My problem with Philly.. is that he disappears. Devin has never had that problem. If he has the playbook I'd be all for it. Don't need interceptions because of miscommunication in the playoffs.

lol wut they have nearly identical stat lines...

Funchess hadn't put up more than 30 yards in 6 games before last Sunday... Philly has had 59,50,39,58... Cam also missed Philly for an easy huge gain in New Orleans.

Regardless, starting doesn't matter because their roles are different and Cam uses them to take shots depending where we are.

Rather keep Cotchery over Philly. Cotchery has been good this year and reliable when called upon.

I'm hoping Tyler Boyd is sitting there still at the end of the 1st (where I hope we're drafting), he'd be an excellent slot guy. A group of Benjamin, Funchess, Boyd, Ginn and Cotchery would be nice next season. Corey Coleman is another intriguing prospect, as the guy can flat out fly but I'm not sold on his route running (coming from Baylor he hasn't been asked to run many routes) which is big to Gettleman.

There are a few free agents like Travis Benjamin and Jermaine Kearse available this offseason. However if Gettleman wants to continue to build a WR group out of higher draft picks to keep costs down (as WR's on the open market don't come cheap) im all for it.

We're drafting end of first no matter what right?

I am all for it. I was never a big fan of Philly. May be he knows the playbook better I don't know. Funchess is definitely a bigger target and can get us the intermediate yards in the middle allowing us to be flexible in the playcalling

We already have Ginn to stretch the field, so why not put Funchess as a #2. Dude gets separation like most of the time, I was watching him last game

Is there even gonna be room for Philly next season? Maybe he takes over Cotchery role.

Cotchery isn't a free agent until 2019. Why the heck would he not be taking care of Cotchery's role? At 33, he's still mr. reliability when you need a clutch first down. Philly may be on the edge of the roster going into preseason if we draft another speedster or if Byrd/Norwood steps up. Hell, Hill might actually finally step up next season!

But as for this season, and to answer the topic question, I'd start Funchess (or at least keep his reps up). Go with the hot hand!
