Some honest discussion: Cam's Post-season stats and expectations?

That tipped ball in TB wasn't dumb.

People like to bring it up. But it was barely tipped, which is why it didn't change the trajectory much.

The defender had very little chance of catching that ball. That was the same type of ball Cam threw to Olsen over JPP in the giants game (and that barely cleared JPP's outstretched club).

And outside of that throw I just described, what "dumb THROWS" did Cam make; since you said "throws"?

The guy was 21-26 with about 3-4 drops. And he threw the other ball away to the sidelines.

He threw right to a bucs defender, that's the only one I recall.

Ya... I've literally given up. The man could be 26-26 and people would b*tch about ball placement if they had to (I've seen it done here before).

He's throwing to a bunch of guys (WR's) that wouldn't even see the field on most teams and still managed to go 21-26!

It's truly remarkable what Cam has been able to do this year. After you factor in what he has as far as weapons on the outsides go its mind blowing.

Good points.

Cause, when you watch other NFL QB's; you see their playmakers receivers make all type of great catches, bailing them out. Meaning: Their QB doesn't have to place the ball perfectly for catches or TD's.

However, when Cam places a perfect ball (such as the first attempted TD with Philly, and numerous others this year) he loses a catch; 50+ yds, and a TD.

So, Newton has to be waaaay more accurate than most QB's (consistently throwing into smaller windows), and they still drop them when he does.

Go figure!

It was a slant, I think to Dickson in the 2nd half

Ok. But slants are quick hitters, based off timing. That happens sometimes if there's a hitch (pass rush affecting QB, or defender affecting receiver), you'll get that. We see one or a few of those almost every NFL game across the league.

It's not like when you stare an open receiver down, then make a bad throw.

More importantly (and I think you were the person I was responding to); that doesn't make "throws". The guy was 21-26 with 3-4 drops. And he did throw one away.

You have unimaginably high standards my friend.

Nonetheless, I GOT YA in spirit regarding that throw with Dickson (which I barely remember, so it must have been a Bang Bang play).

That TD pass to Cotchery that he dropped in his lap was a ridiculous throw that he made look simple.

Yeah Philly just doesn't trust his hands. We've seen him drop 3 balls the past two weeks now. 1 that would've resulted in a touchdown and 2 on 3rd downs which would've resulted in 1st downs. On a side note I'd like to see Philly ditch that long sleeve shirt he wears. He'd have an easier time trying to control a ball against his body with the help from the grip of his bare skin vs a cotton/nylon shirt.

Tying this all into the OP's point, I'm not so sure what to expect this postseason from Cam due to the offense as a whole. I fully expect us to have to put up a solid amount of points to win games. Asking Cam to win shootouts with a team built to win low scoring games is a tough challenge against the leagues top defenses. It reminds me of that 2013 SF game (playoffs) and our D couldn't get off the field to save their lives. Cam had to come out throwing and never stood a chance. Guys are going to need to step up and play out of their minds this postseason if this team is going to go far.

Well, playoff competition is different of course, no next week, teams  with fewer flaws to exploit etc

the entire team needs to make no mistakes...no shanked punts. No blocked kicks. No missed tackles. No blown coverages. No fumbles,  No interceptions. No dropped passes with the receivers open  can the receivers even get open

the problem most of the experts have with the Panthets is that there have been few games for the Panthers that have not had a majority of those items occurring and again it's the playoffs and playoff teams will makes us pay for those

point being, yes the Panthers win in reg season with those issues but the playoffs ?

all of which I think makes cam force things in the playoffs

As much as the huddle seems to have made progress, there still is a bit of the old bullshit about Newton looming that we've grown used to reading.

He has progressed very much so this season, what do I expect? The same big plays, and competitive win at all costs attitude that he has brought to this team since we drafted him. He's likely the MVP of the league, without him we would not be the #1 seed with homefield advantage. So put this all in proper perspective before anything.

Yeah, Newton made that near 50+ yard TD throw to Philly look so easy and simple, with a pass rush coming at him to boot.

Yeah. The Playoff's is a whole nother Magilla.

Saying all that (and to your points on playoff competition): They are at home, which is a good thing (possible turnovers from crowd noise, creating short field)

To the OP's points: The team is 15-1, with it's best receiver out. Newton has 35 passing TD's with 10 INT's; along with 10 rushing TD's. So can we really use the past to judge the future? LOL

Didn't you hear?

Only perfection is required!

I've gotta be clear here.

Why would anyone honestly be talking poo about Cam for one bad throw or two, while completely forgetting to mention the fact that Philly Brown allowed what, 3 passes that were big plays to hit the ground? One being a touchdown pass that was about as perfectly placed as you can get. Which if Philly had caught, would have put Newton at 5 touchdowns on the day.

So..... If you want to be taken seriously, you can stop shitposting, and talk some real football.

Only Perfections required when it comes to the Panther QB.

I guess you are right about being too hard on him. I hate the bad plays a lot, I was embellishing.
