I've been to that Champs many times.....My teen son was into baseball and also big into getting the latest sneakers.  There's not much to do on Saturdays in the winter so hitting the mall in Wilkes-Barre and getting a bite to eat was a decent Saturday outing.

Yeah. Speaking of eating. That food court now has about 2 restaurants left in it at this point. Not doing so hot.

And the winter... it's 9 degrees outside right now. How much do you miss it? Haha.

Two votes for  fortmill / tega cay means I'll be taking a look! Thanks! Any idea how job opportunities are in that area? Never heard of it.

Dont really know to tell you the truth.  What i do know is its 30 min or so to charlotte via 85/485 and if you cant find a job in or around charlotte your not looking.  I go through these areas frequently from monroe on the way to different mx tracks and over the past few years the growth is incredible.  People wouldnt move there if they couldnt find work.

I'm not familiar with digital marketing at all. Sounds like online advertisement, perhaps a job that can be done from home? In terms of College Campuses the Raleigh Durham area is the tightest cluster of large Universities in our state. Greensboro and Winston-Salem also have a few School and are maybe an hour or two West of Durham on I-40. Charlotte is not a major College town. We have UNC Charlotte, Davidson, and Belmont Abbey in the area. There are some community colleges and Devry type colleges as well. Asheville is a very popular place to live in the mountains, they have UNC Asheville then of course App State up in Boone.

I cannot comment on the living conditions or job market in the RD area but it's a solid drive from Charlotte. Being closer to Winston-Salem would cut significant time off your drives back to Pennsylvania to see family. You are going to want to take I-81 north to avoid DC/Baltimore/Philly Traffic. I would assume the Raleigh Durham area would be ideal but I would talk to people in the area in similar careers before making such a big decision. Moving to Columbia South Carolina would be a shorter commute to Charlotte than from Raleigh.

Well....considering it was sunny and 70 here in Florida today, I can honestly say I don't miss it at all.  Selling my snow thrower was a very happy day for me.  LOL.  I haven't lived in PA for about 6-7 years now but the area around the arena was growing pretty steadily back then.  The mall was a bit on the decline but it sounds like it's gotten pretty bad.  The little mall in Hazleton is basically a ghost town.  Where does every go now?  Steamtown?

Not really anywhere to go. Steamtown actually went bankrupt last year and sold to the highest bidder. The city of Scranton as a whole is in really bad shape. It is broke to put it blunt. I haven't really spent much time in Hazleton as that's a bit of a drive for me, but that is another area that has gotten worse since you've left.

Scranton has some decent nightlife due to the colleges in the area though, but this area is very limited right now.

I looked into this briefly as I tried to get into a Mortgage Servicing company in Charlotte once I was laid off from JP Morgan Chase.

I heard good things of the Matthews, Mint Hill and Huntersville areas outside of Charlotte. Further west you have Gastonia. I have a high school friend who moved from NY to that area to teach and her and her busband love it.

I vote for Rock Hill as I just moved there.  My commute to downtown CLT is about 35 minutes and the housing is a touch more affordable than Fort Mill/Tega Cay.  Also, Rock Hill is home to a good sized University, Winthrop, and they're really putting a lot into business development here.  I love it.

you gonna mention the traffic?

Can't speak on it.  My appointments are usually in the mid-morning and I am out of there before 3.  Sorry if the traffic sucks during rush hour, I didn't know.  Been there 20+ times over the last 3 or 4 years, never experienced morning or evening rush hour.  Still a very clean, nice city from what I have seen.

That's a tough decision. I grew up in Cary and lived in Charlotte for a summer, so I know both areas very well. It depends on what you're looking for. If you want more of an urban feel with more going on, Charlotte is your answer. If you're looking to settle down in a quiet, serene, more suburban area with a lot of natural beauty, then the Triangle is great. Both areas are great places to live.

not to be that guy, but this should be over in the lounge

This is a plan to add more passionate, lifelong Panther fans to the state of North (or South) Carolina! That's gotta count for something. :D
