IIRC Philly lost the punt returner job because he was injured & therefore inactive, not that he "wasn't good at it" so they took it away.

If Coleman cant play, I think its a very off chance Marlowe will be active, Colin will probably be the emergency safety, as he is listed as one. I think Mayo will be active if healthy... So that complicates things...

Philly returned healthy and never got the job back, so the coaching staff apparently thought Bersin was the better option. I would agree with them, though I'm not saying that Bersin was much better either... the term 'lesser of two evils' comes to mind.

Day four at training camp per Jeremy Igo: 

Brenton Bersin continues to field second string punts, and guess what.... he looks pretty good. Many people are hard on Bersin for last year's punt return performance. They forget, however, that Bersin had zero punt return reps in practices up until he was asked to field them in a live game. Punt returning is 100% about repetition, without it no player would do well.

Disagree.  Returners are natural returners.

either you can do it or can't.  

You can put someone on the shelf all year and randomly put him in during a huge moment where you need the job done b/c of that...if he was a legit returner.  

Without Ginn we simply have to worry about fielding punts.  That coupled with our FG unit makes special teams a legit worry this week.   Football is 3 phases...and we have lost before b/c of ST alone under Rivera

That has always been my belief.  You will no in less than 1 season if a guy can be a punt returner. 

Takes a special type.  Can't force a square  peg and think reps will help.

I'd rather not put a return man back there than put Bersin back there.  Seriously.  Just surrender the field position.  It's better than a turnover.

That is why I don't get not using Cotchery to fair catch.  He has 60 career punt returns which doesn't include fair catches. He also is smart.  Outside of Ginn, Cotchery has the most experience 

Bersin isn't a running threat and therefore cleaning fielding the kick is his job and he struggles (not fair to him either).
