The run game is back.

The offensive pendulum swinging its way back to the run game is back in full force, as predicted. 

4 of the top 5 rushing teams in the NFC are in the playoffs. 

Panthers, Seahawks, Cards, Vikings 

 

Gettleman was smart to recognize this early on and draft/sign accordingly.

Cool trend and all, glad Getty had the foresight to see this, it's why he is one of the best...

But is our run game back?

Because we abandoned it about halfway into the 1st half of Atlanta and it never was found again.

Lynch wasn't great this year, it was running by committee
Johnson had a rebirth after 2 years being forgotten
Vikings obviously have Peterson
We obviously have Stew and Cam

Yeah, star running backs can create great run games, but those big O-line are what contribute to the best run games

Stewart coming back is going to be huge. Having our deep threat Ginn actually going deep and not being hobbled with help a lot as well in getting the running game going.

Does this mean we need to switch to a pass heavy 4-wide no fullback system next year to be ahead of the curve again?

On the flip side, Gotta find a way to stop the runs people have been putting up against us. Use to be the pride of our defense, and still is on opposing power runs but has been slacking lately. 

We will need those gaps fixed for the playoffs.
