Let's talk Cardinals...

They are very reminiscent of the Harbaugh Niners. Physical team with depth at every position, few visible weaknesses and a great head coach.

Just like the 49ers the year they went to the bowl the Cardinals biggest weakness imo is at quarterback. This team is so athletic (especially on D) and makes Palmer's job easy. They have possibly the fastest slot WR in Brown (which is a weakness of ours) and two legit outside weapons in Floyd and Fitz. A solid running game with David Johnson and it looks similar to what Kaep had with guys like Gore, Boldin, Crabtree and VD.

I believe the Cardinals have a good enough team to carry Palmer to the SB but like the 49ers the year with Kaep, they'll fall short due to the QB position.

AZ has the age-old adage, Gettlemagic philosophy.. It starts up front, on both their lines, they're solid. Then their skill positions compliment the trenches, good WRs & quality secondary...

We are going to need more than pass rush on D to stop them, and our O-line needs to come with their best. Pack a lunch, even, i's gonna be a long day.... They are not infallible, but seem to be taking a page out of the l book we wrote, by getting better late in the season....

Its should be a good, hard fought game, by both teams... Let's get there first. Tampa, then whoever is the postseason appetizer should be the focus......

The Cardinals are a very good team, top to bottom with excellent coaching.

We will need to have homefield to be even odds with them.

Starts with the lines, the defensive line is very good and can get pressure from the middle or from the OLB's.  They run a 34, and that can give younger QB's fits....as well as vets sometimes.  Our O line will have it's hands full.

The offensive line isn't special, but they are good, and Carson and Ariens will not put them in a bad place, both are clicking on all cylinders right now.

Carson is playing QB as good as he ever has in his career, I don't care if he can move or not, that ish doesn't matter if you have WR's, a strong arm, quick release, and a decent O line.  He has all of that.

They don't have an AJ Green or Julio at WR, what they do have is a very balanced group.  Fitz is killing the short passing game, is as durable as they come, and has great hands, he does not have great speed any longer, but runs fantastic routes.  Brown is the quick shifty guy, that can absolutely fly, he scares me the most as far as a game breaker.  Floyd is a bigger WR, can move, and will win jump balls, he is a Jeffery/Marshall type guy, not a giant, but a big, good, WR.

Honestly, we don't have the personnel to match their receivers play for play, we will need to get pressure, and that isn't always easy against a very good veteran QB like Palmer.

Bottom line, they are playing their best football of the season right now, and are a scary team for anyone to face.  They can be beat, like any NFL team, but we aren't going to beat them playing like we did against the Giants, Colts, or most recently Falcons.  Our best chance will be to have Stew fresh, and Cam ready to go running the ball.  Try to keep Palmer on the sideline, and wear out that big D line.

AZ vs SEA game will be very telling. SEA is still a carbon copy of us, but we are a better version. SEA LB's and secondary are similar to ours. That will give insight to how our D could matchup. SEA run game sucks with beastmode and rawls done, so not a good indicator. AZ won the first time in a shootout, I see more of a defensive struggle this time around.

Basically our A game would beat their A game, with Cam being the xfactor over Palmer.

AZ isnt invincible as they are made out to be, they lost a division game...like us......and they lost to a 3rd string qb against PITT who has a horrid defense.

From a cardinal forum:

Default AZ has homefield throughout playoffs regardless

Because Carolina will lose to whoever they play, whether that be GB/Seattle/Vikes/or Skins. Any playoff team will handle them handidly. I see a 14-1 team that beat up on 7-9 teams all year.

Thus making us the top seeded team, thus giving us the homefield throughout.

Rest starters vs Seattle.

There's one guy in particular on their offense that could give us fits: John Brown.

One of the most underrated receivers in the league and can burn anyone.  When Brown comes in the slot with Floyd and Fitzgerald in there, that's when we need to be disciplined and on top of things.

You have to limit the big plays against them.  Their D can occasionally bend and give up points and if/when we play them, you've gotta take advantage of those moments.

They have a QB who doesn't have a win in the playoffs. Not worried.

Foolish.

He has been twice, both of them with the "old" Bengals, the first of which he tore his acl in the first half of the first quarter.

Cam Newton has won 1 playoff game, and that was against a Cardinals team without Palmer, and it still wasn't a walk in the park.

I live in AZ so I get to see just about every game.

they're very good, there's no denying that, but they have weaknesses just like everyone else does.

Their OLine is average, but they probably have the best receiving corps in the conference at this moment. David Johnson has been a steal, but I'm not convinced he can be an every down back, which he will be forced to be going forward with Chris Johnson out for the year and Ellington dealing with turf toe. Palmer has played outstanding, but he is still a liability when the pocket starts getting shaky.

Their defense blitzes more than anyone, and they have alot of seasoned vets on their DLine. Campbell is arguably the best 3-4 DE in football, and Dwight Freeney has been for them what we hoped Jared Allen could be for us. They start Deone Buchanon at middle linebacker, but he's really a safety. He's barely 210 lbs, but his size allows him to be a great blitzer and cover tight ends and running backs due to his speed. They linebacker unit has alot of old Steelers from a few years ago due to the Arians connection, but theyre all a little over the hill at this point in their careers. IMO the secondary is the strongest part of the defense. You know about Peterson, but theyre all young and fast and fly to the ball. Lucky for us, Matheiu was probably their best defensive player this year and could end up being a huge loss. I dont put alot of stock into that Packers game, as the Pack have struggled all year with separation and pass protection issues.

if you want the formula for beating this team, replay the first Rams game. You have to establish the run game early, and you have to get after Palmer and not allow John Brown to get downfield. As good as the Cardinals defense is, the lack of size in their front 7 makes them vulnerable to getting run over by a physical OLine and a power back, which is obviously the strength of our team.

Long story short, Cam's mobility against their blitz and our size up front with a healthy Stewart should allow us to score on them. I also think our front 7 will be able to stop their running game, but a lack of pass rush will give us a very long night, as expecting our old veterans in the secondary to run with Brown, Floyd and Fitzgerald is playing with fire

No diss, I kind of rather talk about TB

TB just saw us get defeated so we are not mortals. We blew them out at their place, another division rival would probably want to get revenge.

Me personally I wouldn't because its not like our 2 teams hate each other and I'll be gunning for that top 10 pick and would be sitting Jameis. That's just me.

Man, you all sound like a bunch of scared pansies. The Cardinals have a great record (still not as good as the Panthers), but they haven't dominated a grueling schedule either. They've beaten ONE really good team (CIN by a field goal) and THREE fairly good teams (SEA, GB, and MIN). They also have a blowout of PHI. However, as referenced above, they have lost more games than CAR.

The Cardinals are not the '85 Bears. They are not the mid-90's Packers. They're not the early 2000's Patriots. They're a really good team who will have to beat a really good team if/when they play the Panthers.
