Charles Johnson is cementing his exile from the Panthers...

I would venture to say there isn't anything CJ could do to remain a Panther next season. He knows it. We know it. The entire team knows it. Gettleman was just waiting until he could release him. CJ will be a 2016 June 1st cut.

And it's not his fault that Hurney gave him a contract that he would never see the final year of. I would have taken the money too. CJ is now able to take care of himself and his family for generations, possible forever if it's wisely invested.

Oh, there is a way.  Get in shape, take a pay cut, and us not be able to find his replacement.  He would need to align his salary with his recent production, and put in escalators if he regains any type of form.

Likelihood of that happening.....going with less than 2%.

Step 1: Let him go and let Ealy play full-time; he's showing he can.

Step 2: Use the freed up money to bring in Weddle to replace Harper.

Step 3: Use still more of the freed up money to sign Norman.

Step 4: Sit back with the best defense in the league.

Eric Weddle is not an in the box safety...

Seems like Coleman could handle it. He is one of our best tacklers.

Been thinking about the Weddle thing for a few days.  He could play the coverage/free safety spot that we need terribly, and has history with Ron.

Would probably be a good signing, has been durable, and can still run.

He is a good tackler but he isn't a big guy so he relies on momentum more than strength. Earl Thomas is an all-pro safety but he couldn't play Kam Chancellor's role.

A SS should be 6', 210, and most importantly a bigger frame with long arms to wrap up better and also play TEs.

Coleman has guns but they're not long, Roman is like a lobster. If Kurt could play Roman's spot better don't you think we'd do that and play Boston at FS?

Guy has been "playing while hurt" for 3 years now.  Time to move on if he's that hurt, all the time.

I think the "playing while hurt " actually means I'm out of shape and lazy. But still cashing checks.

Dwill did the same thing the last few years minor injuries always nicked up. Just a excuse for out of shape poor performing aging players. That are too comfortable cashing their huge checks.

At this time of year the whole roster is playing hurt. But the rest of them ain't getting paid 1.25 million a game

Good luck in atl next year CJ. I'm sure just like dwill he'll get back in shape and have a good year.  When he don't have that guaranteed huge check coming in every week.

Ealy does need the bulk of the reps though.

ealy and Mario should start IMO. Ppl talk about how Mario can't stop the run, well none of these guys are doing much of anything in the run game. Have CJ Allen and delair spell those guys.

Mario has made some really good run stops for losses or no gains this year. He is still inconsistent but definitely improving.
