Charles Tillman appreciation thread

I believe this has been largely lost from last weeks game due to all the drama surrounding Norman and OBJ.

But Tillman had a hell of a game for his first game back, it started with the FF which started the steamrolling by Carolina, and ended with a aptly timed INT in the End-zone, even though the Panthers fumbled on the ensuing possession they were both big time plays from in his first game back after missing some time.

If we clinch this weekend, no business in playing him against Tampa.... We NEED the peanut in the playoffs

Winston would pick on his replacement the entire game, but you're probably right. The fact that he played every snap shows we have no viable replacement if another corner goes down. Scary.

True. IMO everyone but Stew should play this week until Atlanta's wheels fall off. Next week I think we should be extremely cautious with our defensive guys. Especially the secondary. Let Stew come out and shake some rust off and try to pound them to a quick 2 score lead. If we have a 2 score lead at the half let DA step in and bring home perfection!

Had we not fumbled the read option? Tillman had locked the game up for us! I have heard all week how our D blew the lead. But really that fumble and the blocked kick made all of that possible. Tillman won that game with his ff and int in the endzone. If other teams in the league are looking for clues on how to beat us in that game? They aren't gonna find many. Blunders are not our strong point. So if that's all you've got against us? I am sure Peanut and the guys are more than willing for the challenge! We'll keep pounding, while everyone else keeps Whining. Except the Pats. They'll keep finding new and innovative ways to skirt the rules.

The thing you both are missing is that we've reached critical mass, so to speak. If we win the game this week, sitting starters isn't going to happen unless and until we have a big lead against Tampa. Ron has already said he is going to play starters in the last game to keep them fresh. And, if we win this weekend, we are going to be playing for an undefeated season in week 17 (OH MY GOD LET THAT SINK IN PANTHER FANS!!!).

Point is, if we win against the Falcons, there is no way in hell Ron is going sit the starters. This team wants to make history. Haha.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
