This is Pretty Cool

I know a lot of you want to move on from the Panthers vs Giants game because of the OBJ/Norman controversy and so do I, but I thought this was pretty cool that the Panthers vs Giants game was the most watched game on FOX in 5 years for a singleheader window. This game even beat out SNF in ratings.

All eyes are on the Carolina Panthers. Keep Pounding and on to Atlanta!

A testy game between the undefeated Panthers and the #1 market Giants scored a multi-year high on FOX.The Week 15 NFL single header window, featuring Panthers/Giants in 52% of markets, drew a 15.3 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 24% from last year (12.3) and up 42% from 2013 (10.8), both of which aired on CBS. The 15.3 is the highest for the singleheader in five years, since CBS drew a 15.4 in Week 16 of the 2010 season

The previous high for a singleheader this season was 13.6 in Week 9. That telecast also featured the Panthers, against the Packers in 56% of markets.

For the week, the single header topped NBC’s Sunday Night Football by 31% (15.3 to 11.7) — marking the first time all season that the window has outdrawn SNF in the metered markets. It came close to the NFL national window on CBS, which had a 15.9 overnight.

Folks just want to see us lose.  I hate to take a negative spin but lets be real here, negative sells more than positive or the news would be filled with feel good stories instead of death destruction and mayhem.

Even though I don't like you, I do agree with you somewhat that people do want to see us lose, but there are many, many more people that want us to win. That's just how it is.

For some this is like the Raiders or Browns (or Bills or Jags) popping up with a 14-0 team. Even the Jags have had back to back winning seasons (4 in a row in the 90's). We're the 'where the hell did they come from?' team this year, and lots of casual football fans love the underdog.

How can you dislike P55?  Maybe disagree with him sometimes or for some people all the time, but he (on the times I recall) has always put out reasoned responses.

I don't like P55 because we had disagreement a few weeks ago that got out of hand. I don't mind if people disagree with what I have to say. We all are entitled to our opinion.

NYC market viewers dwarfs the viewership of Panther nation....but being undefeated whether the country likes the team or not will attract attention especially when playing a big market and/or storied franchise.

NFL marketing/sponsorship would love a Pats - Packers for ratings SB............but if the Cats stay undefeated would love that story line against the Pats in a rematch too.

Savvy niche market advertisers know that Cam is driving the under 15 fan base market nationwide unlike any other player and he owns the grade school age future fan base...........Luke is the number one jersey of female fans nationwide too. So there is some market niche that a sponsor can leverage with Panther games on a nationwide market.

They are also one of the favorite team colors/jersey among fans nationwide like the Hornets in BB were worldwide with their original colors back in the 90's
