Then you will be happy when he gets a head coaching job and leaves until we hire his replacement and go back to scoring in the low 20s unless they promote from within and leave Shula's system in place now that Cam has mastered it.

That's exactly what they will do. Anyone that comes in to be an OC here (if it isn't someone on staff already) will be brought in knowing ahead of time that this is the system we run. It will be one of the first things discussed in the interview.

If you think Shula is responsible for 10 points per game you're nuts.

Whether you love or hate him he has built a system around Cam that is obviously very effective and has Cam in the MVP hunt. If you change things it will be just like Atlanta with Ryan learning a new system. It takes time and most quarterbacks regress.

Do you still get credited with the pro bowl even if you don't play?

Yeah that's why it's a joke now because the alternates who come in and play for injured players or Super Bowl players get credited as well so there's typically more credited than should be.

Before this year Shula had never had an offense ranked higher than 18th in the league. He's not the key to our offensive success. I don't want him leaving any time soon and don't expect him to get head coaching offers despite what some think, but to think that our offense will struggle with anyone other than Shula is completely asinine. Comparing what's happening in Atlanta to us is a terrible comparison. Their o-line is absolutely horrid, Ryan isn't that good and they have no good receivers outside of Julio. When they were successful they had a decent o-line, prime Roddy White, Julio and Gonzalez. It's not because of Shanahan. If Shula were to leave I'd trust Rivera and DG to hire the right guy whether in house or outside and our offense wouldn't miss a bit. Of course if we change systems entirely that would have an adjustment period but that won't happen unless Rivera is gone because our offensive philosophy is more Rivera than Shula. Rivera knows what he wants in an OC and can find that if he needs to. No one in house right now seems like a realistic candidate.

you cant reason with him T96. he's been a rabid Shula supporter for a while and completely ignores the fact that our talent level on offense is much better via experience and damn good drafting / free agency acquisitions. I will admit that Shula has a hand in those types of decisions, but no one can tell me that another coordinator wouldnt do better with what Gettleman gives him. we all know Gman is the guy pulling the strings, the coordinators and Rivera get input, but its Gman and his scouting department that supply us with talent.

TL:DR... Shula is not the cause of our offensive success. We are winning in spite of him. there are times that our scheming and playcalling are still quite lacking, and yet our talent helps the team overcome the scheme/playcalling deficiency.

Atlanta has better offensive weapons than us. We are only a year away from a terrible offensive line and they have been a top 10 offense until they imploded as of late so the comparison is apropos. If Shanahan is not at fault because of poor personnel then Shula gets a pass even through this year because our offensive personnel has been considered the worse in the league not only in the past but this year as well before we started winning.

As to Shula bashing we are 32-12-1 under Shula as an OC and his offense this year is the most prolific in our history. As for relative quantity stats like 18th versus 10th, they are meaningless without context which anyone but a casual fan should know.

And Shula was hired by Rivera because he had the best plan for how to use Cam. It was his system not Rivera.

But go ahead keep throwing stuff up on the wall hoping something sticks. Even a broken clock is right 2 times a day.

Cam just needed a competent NFL line as he had earlier in his career, now he has an above average line unlike the start of last year. As far as Atlanta's talent on offense versus ours. We have Cam Newton over Matt Ryan. End story.

I'd give the edge of our offense over Atlanta's far more weight in our QB's ability versus who has a better OC. Cam like a Brady or Rodgers makes this poo work.

Hell, Cam got Rob Chudzinski a head Coaching gig, and some NFL owner may soon begin to think Shula is a genius worthy of one. Good luck.
