PHOTOS - Cam Newton crashes Roaring Riot party

Cam Newton, his parents, Derek Anderson, and Joe Webb surprised the Roaring Riot crowd at our holiday party last night.

He gave a (funny) speech saying how much he and the Panthers appreciate the Roaring Riots support and influence on the growth of the fanbase. Said how the team used to have to "spot Panther fans" at away games.

Jeremy has a video here

He very graciously went around the whole place, saying whats up to everyone he could, taking selfies with them, and signing autographs. He found Braylon obviously, who didn't know Cam was coming, and gave him his Santa hat and fox tail, much to Braylons excitement.

He picked up the tab too.

Really cool of all of them to stop by - everyone loved it.

Here's some not-so-great photos.

You know that all of us out-of-town Rioters are insanely jealous, right?

(and also proud that the in-town Rioters righteously represented)

I hope you see this as the door opening to many more opportunities with Cam and not just a one time event you missed out on. Because it is just the beginning  ;)

He really loves the fans, and loves playing here.

Could you, in a million years, ever imagine Brady or Manning doing anything like this?

Hearing all the locker room talk, the interviews, etc.... you know that this year's team is special. It's laying the groundwork for future seasons where Carolina is where other players WANT to come to play, to be a part of the team/the city. Where they will willingly take appropriate contract adjustments in order to stay here. Play their entire careers here.

Winning begets more winning.  Positive attitudes begets more positivity.

Players in the draft already have their NFL dream made... but how many are *wishing* to play for the Falcons (or insert other dreadful team's name here)?   To have an opportunity to play with Cam, with Luke, for Ron (and the rest of the team...)..... I could go on.

Cam is setting the perfect example of what it means to give back to the fans, and the fanbase is giving it back to the team in dividends.  And the rest of the team is following.

That's what a true leader does. Yesterday cemented that - give that man the MVP already.

This is so awesome!  I wish I could stay up past 8pm most night lol!

Man, this really shows just how special a person Cam is.  He has completely embraced his role not only as a starting NFL QB, but as a shining beacon of awesomeness.

Man, I'm so GLAD we drafted Cam...how many of us were on the fence...LOL =)

What I love about Cam is he doesn't do stuff like that for the money/attention/media exposure etc etc, he does it because he genuinely wants to be there. You hear in other cases about the big divide between athletes and the general public, I dont think anyone does more to be more accessible than Cam. The ultimate irony of "Tennessee Mom" bashing him for not being a role model is that really, Cam Newton is the absolute role model in quite possibly all of sports, he's certainly up there anyway at the moment.

    • He made some excellent throws but he always has made some excellent throws here and there. I don't know what to think, which is what I was apprehensive about. Is he going to have a decent downfield game? Because okay Legette dropped one, but someone was giving stats prior to the bye or during it where he had two downfield completions and one of them was the jump ball that is just launched and fingers are crossed that our guy comes down with it, and yesterday we saw that again. The Russell Wilson school of downfield passing.  I don't feel like that is sustainable, but at the same time you have to do Something to make the defense understand they have to defend that downfield throws. Like i said, confused.  I guess I'm going to review the game for myself and look closely at his mechanics and stuff because if he actually fixed that stuff it explains the better throws. And that has been my biggest objection, or what I see as the thing that makes or breaks his chances, that unorthodox dropback and tippy toe action and not having his feet set which limits velocity etc etc.
    • The negative Nancy in me (or objective?) says that they had a bye week to prepare for the Chiefs. However, it’s one thing to have a good plan and it’s another to actually execute it. For all the flack he’s received (from me as well), Bryce seemingly has put his head down and worked his tail off and his play is giving me hope. The first 18-game Bryce showed no progression whatsoever. He gets benched, comes back, and has shown steady progress every week he has started. I think I’m starting to see what the Bryce lovers and unconditional defenders were saying all along, and I hope he can show that on a regular basis for the sake of our QB1 position.
    • Yeah, we could still very well end up 4-13 with the 2nd pick.   I think LVR has the inside track for 1, with only a JAX team as a team on docket that could be beatable.
