Panthers sign CB Robert McClain

Finnegan will be in the slot......that's why he was signed.

McClain and Finnegan worked out at the same time and Finnegan fit the slot

position better and it was what we were looking for at the time.

once we had another issue at the DB position it was a no brainer to bring in McClain.

I feel good about McClain. He understands the defense  and he should be able to cover his man in the slot or on the outside with some safety help over the top. Since Wilkes has been here,  when we have played young guys to replace veterans who get hurt or have nothing in the tank it has worked out very well. Wilkes does a hell of a job and Peanut can give him a crash course if he can't play himself.  If they are considering IR they have to have someone in mind to bring here. Otherwise you would give Peanut time to keep healing. They must know he is pretty much done for the year.
