Panthers sign CB Robert McClain

McClain is 5'9?  Yeesh, welp better hope Nut is back this week.  Or Finnegan will be on the outside.

Well I hope they're not dumb enough to say they're going to promote young through the media and then not do it so that any other team can pull him off our PS so that we cant.

 

I'm sure it's not the case, but if I'm the Giants,Falcons,Bucs or a potential playoff team that we may face I'm pulling a guy from our PS just so the panthers can't have him.

I'm asking because I'm a homer to no end and I truly don't know, but given how Peanut played early on (well most of the time, but just not the same athletic ability and movement), could McClain actually be an upgrade? Not looking for a lockdown corner, just someone who's not a liability and can play the scheme. Am I crazy?

Former Panthers CB Eric Davis was on WFNZ today.  He talks about our defense, and how it might be for McClain to fit in on the team in week 14, among other topics.

So the Cowboys just released their starting nickel CB, Tyler Patmon, who has apparently been pretty solid. I actually know nothing about him so I'm just going on what others have said, but assuming he wasn't cut for an arrest or incident we haven't heard about yet and he makes it to us in waivers(we are 32nd) then I could definitely see him joining the team and taking McClain's spot. Cowboys have actually had a solid pass defense this year.

Great 2012 then regressed over the next two years. The Pats picked him up in the offseason and he was among their final cuts. Reported to be serviceable during the preseason.

To clarify, a team can't just poach Lou Young (or any other practice squadder). He has to agree to a contract.

If he knows we plan to elevate him, why would he sign with someone else?
