Christmas Presents

Let's talk about what you are getting your friends or loved ones.

I know most Huddlers have great ideas and are equally full of bull $hit.

This isn't meant to be a big Johnny contest just keeping with the holiday spirit and sharing some ideas that maybe some of us will steal.

I'll start with a couple of Panthers gifts I'm giving  -

Wife- A Luke sweatshirt she will love me for.

My daughters bf- a Carolina hoody. His family is from the UK but his dad is a Cowboy fan. For the past 5 weeks I've made him come over and watch the Panthers with me. I think the hoody will fully convert him.

Let's see what good ideas you have. (Doesn't have to be Panthers related)

She'll probably kill me but whatever. I also bought her a bunch of crap she wanted (shoes, boots, sweaters) and then I don't know if she will take it the wrong way but I bought her a facial scrub from Nordstroms which was over $100. Not that i'm implying anything but I think she would like that right? Bought her a crock pot and don't know what else though. I was hoping to buy her some Sam Hunt or Tim McGraw tour tickets but they don't come near where I live.

Sounds like to me you did a dam fine job! Women... well, men also can be really picky when it comes to shoes, boots etc. it's all about getting the Intel on what they like before you go get it. How did you choose?

My wife has a Pinterest so it's her way of picking out things she likes without directly telling me haha

I think the face scrub was a great call. Women always seem to love stuff like that.

My wife and I make a list of 10-15 things we want for Christmas and she and I randomly buy things off that list. Kinda like a children's santa list but for kids. Atleast we know it is something we both want.

I actually only asked for one thing and it's for the Steph Curry Carolina Blue shoes.

Are you getting anything else for your wife and daughter? What about yourself? Truth be told, I bought the handgun for myself lol but gifting to her.

Good idea on making the list. It's still a surprise and you get what you wanted. Most times I just imagine everything is going to be socks and if it's something different I'm real happy. I can tell I'm getting old because the past few years I actually wanted socks.

My son is coming home for leave from his AIT. (Army) I got him a gps watch/HR monitor.

Nice call on getting the Glock for your "wife". I may have to take that idea.

Did BFG have anything to do with why the puppy dog has 3 legs? Ha I kid.

We don't have kids, and we're big animal rescue advocates, so we buy truckloads of supplies for the local rescues.

She has to buy stuff for her shitty nephews, who are too cool to hang out or acknowledge their aunt, but sure want that swag come holiday time. And her parents and brother. We don't buy anything for each other, opting for the winter Caribbean vacation and the summer "explore the USA" vacations.

We have plans to reno the kitchen and master bath in 2016, so the vacations may have to take a brief hiatus following our trip in January.

Dad - Junk box - Mostly just filled with gift certificates, drinks, and sweets.  The man has the biggest sweet tooth.

Sister - Bath & Body Works stuff

Brother - New router for his apartment

Mom - Some kind of 5-piece makeup kit from her favorite makeup store

My Secret Santa - Wireless bluetooth speaker and some house shoes (that's what his wife told me to get)

    • I saw that too--and what you said made sense because there is something like that in the rules--said that he is unlikely to get picked up (and I was not suggesting that we do) and Jones wants to go to a winning team.   After getting beaten to death in NY behind a sub par OL, poor WRs, and brutal fan base, I get it.
    • True.  Sam and Baker did not do well here but went on to better things under better coaching, circumstances or both.  The real question is, ‘why aren’t the Panthers able to get improved performance out of ‘broken toys’, similar to Minnesota and Tampa? That is a rhetorical question.  I think we know the answer.   [The cultural reference to Pogo dates me, I’ll admit.]
    • Did I mention that he was on worse teams?  Yes.  Do QBs alone win games?  No.  Did Cam, on a much better team with some awesome defenses ever have 2 consecutive winning seasons?  No.  So now you are cherry picking,  If the overall stats are similar, you take a look at him.   I told you that you look at his skill set---but you wanted to tell me that he sucks and mentioned performance.  I just presented performance--and his numbers are very similar to Cam Newton's numbers--a player most call the best Panther QB ever--and I agree.  By the way, Fumbles are evidence of how bad his OL has been--so you are saying that a QB in a situation worse than Cam's who has stats and physical abilities very similar to Cam's should not be given a look when you have Bryce Young at QB?  You are going with that story because you simply talked your way into a corner and now you are trying to save face.  No good GM would do what you suggest because "he sucks."  Sorry, but the facts do not support you.  But no matter what eye-opening details I provide, there are some who are going to go their Google machines to try to find some reason to support an ignorant approach to developing the QB position.  You ignored the similarities to Cam and went cherry picking.  I know what you are doing--but I am only suggesting (as I have stated before) that we bring him in as one of three approaches to resolving the QB issue. Compete with Bryce and draft a QB. Basically, I am suggesting that Jones has the potential to replace Dalton and compete with Young.  He is a battered stock that could get better in a better situation--that is human nature.  Instead, I am called a Daniel Jones lover and superfan.  That is good debate--But a real sign of mature thinking is the inability to LOGICALLY consider alternative perspectives--which is actually a characteristic of intelligence.  Just so you know, I critique and perform research in my job.  I am often amazed at how the numbers do not support my suppositions.  I learned that my impression is often wrong until I look at the data.  In this case, I have considered all the important variables and he should get a shot.  Numbers don't lie--and when you and others resort to twisted name calling directed toward the poster--it verifies my position.
