When the season began ...

I gotya but Im just gonna say that there a lot of people on this website, who I will hesitate to call fans, that also thought we were done. After hearing the whining year in and year out for a new receiver, its gets tiring telling them that it doesnt matter that much. They were certain that the missing piece to Steve Smith was . . . another receiver. lol, not, you know, a guy that can throw him the ball, maybe.

Will it sink in now?

NOPE! They have already been people asking for which receiver we will get next year around the local radio clown shows. Tune in to WFNZ for more thought provoking radio including "DOES CAM DANCE TOO MUCH?" and . . . . . . "Is it ok to be confident?". Ive never seen a large population of men become such effeminate pansies.

I have been critical of Cam in the past. Been called a racist on this site because of my username for doing it. All I was doing was voicing what I saw on the field.

Our improvement this year on O is 20% better line play, 20% a healthy J Stew/Tolbert and 60% improvement in Cam Newtons game. When was the last time you saw a throw sail over the head of a receiver like we have in years past? Cam has evolved into a legitimate MVP level QB. You could see it start to happen in 2013. Injury slowed it in 2014 but the guy has become what we hoped for in 2015.

I cannot remember a single int this year that was just a bad high throw from Cam. Bad decisions, sure. Bouncing off receivers' hands, too many. But high throws that sail over the receiver into the waiting arms of the defense? not one. At least that I can remember.

Me either. It was so prevalent last year Igo was posting threads with pictures of Cams footwork.

Nobody on this board thought we would even have a top half offense.  Neither did the media or any objective observer outside the organization.  I thought we could be competitive with our defense, but I don't think anyone could have seen this coming.

And the scary thing is that the offense continues to get better, and the defense is playing at a dominant level again.  Yesterday was sobering b/c of the injury scares, and losing Benwikere concerns me (especially if we play AZ), but this team truly has the make-up to win the Super Bowl this year.

The playoffs are going to be a lot of fun.  This season has been incredible.

I'll never forget sitting in the press box just before the Patriots preseason game, Sal Paolantonio walks in with all the local Panther beat writers around and proclaims "How many games the Panthers gonna win this year, SIX?! Gonna be tough to win if you can't score more than 16 points a game!".

Good call Sal.

I agree with you In part, but I wouId say that a lot of what people are callIng Improvement on his part Is actually what happens when he's not running for his proverbial life.

I'm betting a lot of folks would not like to see those preseason - or even early season - threads bumped.

Heck, there were people ready to jump off a bridge on the first day of free agency because we didn't make any big flashy moves like other teams.

Ha! Not me. ;)

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
