Weirdest Moment at work yet

Doc Holiday

Some here may know I work in detention, and have heard some stories of mine.

Basically this guy came in on attempted murder charges yesterday, he was covered in blood, it was all over him, apparently he broke into his ex's house(by knowing where she kept the spare key) while she was sleeping and started to stab her while she was sleeping early in the morning.  he had so much blood on him that even while I was attempting to not touch the blood while searching him on intake I still brushed some and got it on my clothing, I had his victim's blood on me and that kinda freaked me out a bit.  weirdness.

That's sucks.  That poo will stick with you for few years.  That's why I have a desk job.  I almost joined a police force (got a job offer at 18 by CMPD) but decided not to.  My buddy works in Sheriff department and he has some stories.

it's stuff like this that has me partly looking to get out of this line of work, I don't deal with stuff like this often, but it's never a experience you want.  I think this would have freaked me out more if the person had died, and I didn't know they survived(though in serious condition).

A CO is a wild job my man. Only a certain personality can do it. Gotta be rough,  especially long term.

I know a few that have done it. Big ups to you.

I know you have heard of the Standford Prison Experiment. Interesting stuff.

You should keep a journal for you or others later in life to share your experience.

Certain things are not meant to be seen unless you're ready for it or you hype yourself for it. For example, if you witness a car crash, if you are a first responder, you have to prepare yourself for the worst i.e. severed limbs, decapatation, etc. There's a difference in walking up and just freaking the hell out and telling yourself to be calm and expect to see nasty things. Of course, experiences vary.

In other news I did fight a inmate for his underwear yesterday, it was so funny while happening I was trying very hard not to laugh.

(inmate was placed on Suicide watch, and when we do that we take everything from them its SOP in any facility anywhere and was not trying to be mean)

Anyone else want to ask Doc how his week was every week?

Summer of 2013 we had five deaths. One was a suicide (he left a note), another fell off a catwalk and his hoodie caught the railing, another wore a respirator for painting thinking it would protect him from the LEL, and the other two were in poor health and took so much of an LEL hit that it killed them. Thankfully I don't have to work any of those sites anymore because i know where each of them passed

Shoot what do you do? 5 workplace deaths is crazy high, even if one is suicide.

It's going fine for me this week so far, talking mad poo to inmates about Football never gets old, weirdly enough we have a lot of Giants fans in house right now.

Oilfield. Every death was a lone worker.

you a prison guard?  only reason i ask is that my dad is in the clink.  has been for some time now.  anyway, long story short we need somebody on the inside.  my dad still likes to drink but he don't like that jailhouse brew they got circulating.  i thought maybe if i was to come on by with a bottle of jack daniels tucked up inside you might be willing to look the other way and not hassle me.  i don't mind the strip search so much though, you guys are usually nice and gentle and i appreciate that.  anyway pm me if you dont want giving out this kind of information online, i know we got some snitches in here somewhere.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
