You think the threat of Stew is making people stack the box?  Read option doesn't work if Cam never runs. 

Also Cam is calling these plays based on the defense.  It's not like its a called run and Cam can't check out of it.

That's like saying you don't have to actually hand the ball off to the RB in order to set up the PA pass, b/c the threat of handing it off to the RB is enough.
