If you were the Panthers right now...

What would you do? Would you stick with Delhomme, the man you gave a 5 year $42 million dollar contract to? Would you immediately go out and sign the best possibly FA QB out there and get him ready to start? Would you start McCown or Moore? How would you approach stopping the bleeding after Sunday's implosion?

I would assume the Panthers will continue a "buisness as usual" approach. Fox said it best in his news conference - saying that "it doesn't matter if you lose by 3 or 30, a loss is a loss." I don't expect any major changes from last week in terms of depth chart or gameplan. I think the biggest change we might see is probably on defense. Early in the game, the Panthers were getting decent pressure on the QB and making a few plays in the secondary. But after the punt return, everything imploded. Suddenly there was no coverage and the run defense disappeared. I expect against the Falcons for defensive play to improve, based on some more timely subsitutions and (hopefully) the return of Chris Harris.

If I was running the Panthers, I would put McCown on IR and start hitting the phones for a veteran QB. (I would sign AJ Feeley, a solid starter at times for the Eagles when McNabb was frequently out. He had talent around him there which made him look a lot better than when he played in Miami, and he would have plenty of talent to work with on offense). I would start Delhomme against Atlanta, because it is too soon to give up on Delhomme after the first game of the season. I'd promote Moore to #2 QB and give him a shot if Delhomme has another bad outing. Moore had a couple nice throws against the Eagles near the end of the game, one which got called back for holding. He's been with offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson for three seasons now, and if the time was for him, it's now. Give him the start versus the Cowboys in Week 3 if Delhomme is benched for the second straight week, but have Feeley ready to go after the bye if Moore struggles, and just try to keep everybody healthy. At 0-3, the season is beginning to look bleak. Just make sure key starters don't suffer any major injuries at that point.
