Not only that but it isnt like Ryan hasnt engineered a last minute win against us in the past.

Yeah I mean we should win, but we just have not out people away at home this year when we had a chance to go for the throat.  Sure, we trounced the NFC East teams, but other teams came back on us or played us tough to the end. n

Thanks for the insight.  However, when I played (in college and high school) winning teams didn't blow leads and stay winning teams for long. I felt lucky we won a few of those games.  Winning teams don't make it a practice of giving up 4th quarter leads to  a qb who hit fewer that 50% of his passes and had 3 picks in your house (Luck). The point is, we have struggled to put teams away at home and we have let them take us to the wire.  Anybodhy can look at the scoreboard and make statements like yours--but if you want to analyze the way we have played at home without grunting cliches, you have to mention the 800 lb Gorilla in the room.  If you want to pound chests and state the obvious, fine.  But we have not played well at home.  We are not a winning team in the playoffs, by the way, when you can't do that crap.

You're welcome. I'll be back here tomorrow when the 12-0 team on "upset alert" demolishes one of the worst teams in the league.

You see, nobody said they wouldn't.  I am pretty sure you missed the point and the counter point. All I said was that despite the scoreboard, they have not been dominant at home and there is no reason for over confidence.  Then you chime in and start in about their record.  Jeez.  If you want to pound your chest about blowing 4th quarter leads and letting bad teams hang around in games, go ahead. Sooner or later, it bites you in the ass.

I've watched  about every play since 96 and I am supremely confident that this team is unlike any we've ever had. And yes it's ridiculous bullshit to be put on upset alert at home against this falcons team. It has nothing at all to do with the manner in which we beat other teams.

There is a better chance of Atlanta beating us this week than in Week 16.  They still have an outside shot at the postseason so we should expect their best effort this afternoon.  Should we take care of business though their season will be over when we meet in two weeks.  I would imagine a once overhyped 5-0 team that loses seven (possibly eight) of their next nine to fall our of contention would be about the least motivated opponent possible.

I can assure you that if the Panther players had your attitude, we would be worried.  One game at a time.  Have you looked back at the teams who won the Super Bowl in recent years and noted who beat them in the regular season?  You would be shocked.

Again, nobody here is predicting an upset, but I am suggesting that their is a fine line between wins and losses in many of our victories.  We win ugly, for the most part.  I get tired of making a statement that is an analysis based on the real world of sports and somebody from the Madden world puts words in my mouth and then rants about how wrong I am.

Once again, nobody said this team is not special.  Nobody said we are losing against Atlanta.  The point was that we have not put people away and have relied on the last drive far too often to make me feel dominant.  We have had luck on our side so far.  I don't want to rely on luck.  Yes, you can say "we make our own luck;"

But what if Cam's pass to Olsen was an inch lower last week?

What if Chancellor does not get confused on the Olsen seam route in Seattle?

What if McCown does not very slightly under throw that pass that Norman picked off in the endzone?

What if Gano misses the 52-yard FG in overtime vs. the Colts?

It would not have taken much at all for these things to have happened--they happen to both good and bad teams.  Would we be as confident if 4 plays had gone the other way?  We would be sitting at 8-4, following a loss to the Saints, hoping to beat the Falcons and for Tampa Bay to lose on our march to an NFC South crown.

Well...looks like I was right to be confident. And Eric davis is an idiot.

As someone else said earlier, the amount of insecurity within this fan base is absolutely appalling. Week after week after week after week this team has dominated every phase of the game while a team like Atl can't do anything right. Yet still, idiots "worry" about playing a team like Atl IN F'ING CHARLOTTE! I get putting the Panthers on "upset" alert, but believing it is another matter altogether and there are WAY too many "fans" that constantly beleive this team will fail. Pathetic doesn't ever begin to describe those "fans". I really wish there was a way to banish non believers from pulling for this team. Being scared of Atl the way the two teams have played ALL season should disqualify you from pulling for this team for at least the rest of the year. GTFO.
