Best argument so far.

That said no one in Panther land would have liked the pick initially.

As much as I like having Stewie here, I would have been fuging thrilled to have drafted Flacco. I think I was like one of three people here that wanted us to draft him then.

Just another thing about Flacco, he's in a much better developmental position in Baltimore than he would have been in Carolina.

His head coach is Jim Harbaugh's brother, and his offensive coordinator Cam Cameron used to be a quarterbacks coach. Those are two things the Panthers can't offer.

"Rex Grossman is our quarterback" - Lovie Smith (5-7 times)

Get ready to hear that, but with Jake's name and from Fox's mouth.

That said, I would've gone for Flacco. You do NOT need two superstar RBs on a team. You need one, and a decent back-up. We have two superstars and we will not be able to afford both in the future. We would be fine with just DeAngelo and a back-up. I do like Otah, though, and getting Flacco and him but not J-Stew would have gotten all of that mixed up in ways I can't even think.

don't be suprised if Stewart isn't traded after the season for a draft pick to go after a Flaco type QB.

Lets hope both our RB's have good years, that is one spot we can afford some give to, so we can address QB position.

you have the entire history of the nfl draft at your disposal.

switch out a player for a replacement QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, defend why you think the Panthers would have drafted him at the time.

Don't have access to that right now. Just saying that Fox's philosophy...get a game-managing quarterback and concentrate on the rest of the team in the draft....keeps you away from 4-12 seasons, but doesn't get you in the playoffs very often. JMHO. Like I said, look at the teams that make it every year...they all drafted a QB and built around him. Every single one of them.

that's actually not what you said at all, and you do have access to it unless you're posting from china.

DEFEND YOUR AWFUL OPINIONS I WANT BLOOD

peyton, brady, and mcnabb were all drafted before Fox and Hurney arrived, and the Panthers obviously weren't in a position to draft one of the 2004 QBs following the super bowl. if we're going to criticize them for things done in 1998, 99, and 2000, then let's just throw up our hands and build ULTIMATE DRAFTS FROM 1995 ON!

none of the other elite QBs were realistic options.

I don't see the team trading away a RB. The value isn't there. It's easier for a team to draft a RB than it is to trade for one.

well, Stewart is under a rookie contract and is proven. Compare that to an uncapped draft RB year coming up.

It could happen, only position we can afford to move someone at.

We are going to have to take our medicine for the long term viability of this team. Unless the coaches can figure out to have a 75% Run Oriented Team with 25% of passes completed to Smith(from who?) viable against the best Defenses in the NFL

dude you can throw a dead cat and hit a running back.

nobody is going to give the panthers something for stewart that would allow us to draft bradford, mccoy, or snead next year.

maybe we can grab The Golden Calf of Bristol on day 2
